Flared 1G fenders for wider tires

Thanks for the link, and yea you helped me out a lot in the past putting my gsts engine in my n/t car.( long story)
but suppose you found a cheap awd shell with everything needed id say go for a awd swap. It would be the ultimate statement on that car, and then with the traction youd be able to add tons of more power to it. I wouldnt get rid of your car either if i were you even if john shephard gave you his, your car has a lot of hardwork, money, memories, and history in it and i know how that is so yea stay with it.
and it Sucks that you have to keep raising it higher, maybe a stupid question but cant you somehow roll/push/ or cut out some of the inner tire well to make more clearance, i mean I dont know how thick the material is in there considering you already did some cutting, but just a thought. And stiffer spring rates on the rear should help, and wouldnt hurt you in drag, but doing all of them probably wouldnt be ideal for autox with them as stiff as you mentioned.

I can cut more out, I just then have to be able to weld it back together which can be an extremely costly procedure.

If I raise rates again I'll have to raise the front rates to balance it out. I've got 500/415 on the car right now. If I step it up I'll probably go to Greg's rates of 600/500 if these Koni's can handle it.

Kyle I'm running 500/400 with a 27mm offset and 255 tires. I don't think my tires being more narrow make it so they clear the fender though. They stick out enough to where they should rub with the suspension compressed enough. It just never goes that low. I have noticed some slight rubbing on the inside of the tire on the drivers side though when making a hard left turn. Nothing on the outside fenders so far, front or rear.

Not sure why yours rub and mine don't.

I get that same rubbing on the inside of my driver's front too. Got it with the 225/50-16 Khumo's on the stock wheels too. Weird.

I'm going to use some cheap ass camber bolts to add positive camber to the top hole of the strut so that instead of the strut and wheel looking like this

l l

it will look more like this

l/

obviously not so severe, but you get the point. That should give me some extra clearance at the top of the tire and spring. Then I can use the actual camber plates to tilt that adjusted assembly inboard and maintain enough camber for the car to work properly.

No rear camber here, you've got to bend the rear axle to get any. I think I just need to raise it up as the outer diameter of the tire is probably causing most of it. The only time it rubs is when it's loaded hard and I encounter a sizeable bump. I may try to stiffen up the rears, but these damn Koni's are a pain in the ass to adjust the rears since I have to completelely remove the shock, then disassemble it down to be able to compress it enough. And then once I do, I can't get mine to "click" like it says it should.

I need to see about ajdusting my Konis again as I never got the "click" either. I pushed them in, tried turning them but not sure if it did anything. Thought about taking it to a shop and seeing if they can adjust them or maybe get the rears to be even with each other and fronts even with each other.

I was looking for some 4runner parts for my wife on eBay and found these little things. Bushwacker - Photos specifically #31919

The rounded cut-out flares look like they might be interesting on our cars. They are pretty extreme but the long curve of them would be nice. Just thought I'd throw these out there as a potential option.

I know those wheels, don't remember what brand but a buddy has them on his mr2. You can get them in a lot of good sizes and offsets as that's why my buddy bought them.

What are you looking for as far as dimensions. I own a 94 Toyota truck with the Bushwacker cut out flares on it so I can get you any measurement you want. Let me know. Travis:thumb:

Since we'd be trying to put these on a DSM we'd need to know the diameter of the inner and outer circles the flare is designed for and how far they stick out. Basically, what size wheel well are they meant to fit over and would they be shaped right for say 40 series 17" tires?

No problem. It may take me a day or two to get back to you because of the weather but I will get you all the dimensions I can. One thing I can tell you is they stick out about 3 1/2" from the body. I will try to trace out templates of the curve of the truck fender and the 1G fender to see if they follow the same lines as well. Travis

On My TO-DO List
<img src="http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/files/3/5/6/9/3/ResizeofPicture0251.jpg" alt="flares with 17x9's and 255's" />

I can tell you the Bushwacker flares for the Toyota dont look like these flares as far as the shape. They stick out like I said about 3 1/2 inches but it is all the way around. They dont turn in at the bottom. I will see if I can find a pic of my truck to post on here.

Wow 3 1/2" is huge. Mine are maybe 2" at the very most.

Okay here goes on some pics. I took these from 4 feet away exactly. The flares stick out around 3.5 to 4 inches. Both front and rear at each inside corner measure about 30.5 inches. Hopefully my pics aren't to big because I am to stupid to resize them. Any other ques or pics needed let me know.Again I do apologize for the size but I can fix your car and only poke at keys on a computer. Sorry Mods
Also to the first pic is the front truck fender, the second is the rear and I did the same on my GST for visual
As a side note we might look into flares for a 97 Tacoma. I think they have a more rounded fender well.

Yeah, here's the Tacoma flare I was talking about. Photo is from Bushwacker's site.

There are also the smaller flares.

The 4" lip is pretty huge but with our more rounded fenders it might provide enough to shave the flare down to fit and end up with a 2-3" flare at the bottom. I haven't checked prices on those yet. I'll see what I can find out.

No offense, but I don't think those are going to look good at all on a dsm or any sports car for that matter.

The second pic is the street flare and they are about 1.5 to 2 inches wide. May be a better option.???????????????
The only thing with the taco cutout flare is the front fender has a similar shape as my 94 front fender. It is more rounded but still has a straight ish line at the top
