Yea, im about to get this 91 eagle talon n/t and am dealing with car drama such as it starting and working on this turbo set up. other than that, i was wondering what i should put into my car to make it worth the money. im only 16 with no job yet so try n work with me. i was thinking headers or something but cant really find em or what im looking for... i can only pay cash which is a problem i know... poor family but i just gotta work with it. HELP ME OUT! :thumb:

i want to make this car somewhat fast at least. that plan sounds good but i wont be buying another car anytime soon. what should i do to this stock automatic car till i get enough turbo parts? i mean i can always keep the turbo and its parts for a future car

The bottom line seems to be this: To make this car more fun by making it faster will cost the same as a car that is faster to start with. which sucks. On the other hand you can spend that money on just having fun in your car.

you may want to look up your local SCCA and try to make it out to an autox event. I am positive someone on this forum runs local to your area and would be willing to let you ride along.
do not think you need anything other than a healthy car and a drivers license to go out and have a good time. a friend of mine has more than 10k into their integra. type R motor, headers-HK$ exhaust, cold air intake, Hondata, 3k worth of coil-over suspension, the works. I bet them a steak dinner that i could beat him around an autox in my girlfriends completely stock 200k-mi Chrysler Cirrus. despite spending all that cash in all the wrong places and driving Fast&Furious on the street he still had no idea how the car handled. so got spanked by a completely stock, automatic, beige Chrysler 4 door. the steak dinner was kinda awkward... but totally worth it. :thumb:
Just guessing, but your older brothers are probably in the same boat. its amazing how much faster you can learn when not on public roads.

Dead serious you will get more respect for showing up in a dead stock automatic car than is given to the guys who show up with Lotus Elises on slicks. and in a few times on skid pad you will know more about properly driving your car hard than guys who have carved up backroads for years. main difference, if you dont spin at least once an event at an autox, your probably not going fast enough. spin out on the street, your probably dead.

----- another thing to think about, money spent on some good summer tires is never wasted. thats a 400$ mod right there ;)

edit: Actually i lied, you will need more than that to autoX. pick up a roll of blue painters tape and borrow someone's motorcycle helmet and your all set.

This is probably the best advice anyone on here's given so far. Autox is a great way to have fun in a virtually stock car. A 3g friend of mine has a 2.4, automatic, spyder (slowest of the slow) and started the year running much faster than anyone in his ST class, after doing some supporting suspension mods he was pulling well ahead of anyone in his class and was running against "big shots" with their R35 Skylines and even 2 supras.

Autox is a sport where it doesn't matter how MUCH power you make, but how well you can hold what you have on the ground and through twisties. It is about driver skill, not vehicle speed. Plus it's usually under $30 to race for the day. :thumb:

Some fun at our local autox-

Here's the head of our SCCA, got a little too hard on the throttle before the turn. I happened to be riding along with him at the time, wish we had gotten a picture about midway through the turn as we almost flipped!

Me in my 3g taking the same turn-

The AutoX thing is a great idea. I wish there was something like that around here.

My first 4 DSM's were 1G 2.0L N/A's, two of which were just parts cars. I started with them when I was 15 years old. I learned so much from them. Maintinance, part failures, after a couple years I could dissasemble the entire front suspension in no time. The only car's I had any knowledge about were Chevy Muscle cars and Dirt race cars. I wasn't afraid to mess something up on the N/A's because, well..it was a N/A. If I didn't own my N/A's, I wouldn't know nearly as much about these things as I do now. I got my speeding out of the way and any kind of stupid stuff a typical teanager does. I never did get into rice though. I think that is what my ex gf's neon was for =P

hahaha i guess painters tape really is magical ;) you guys really helped out but what kinda of cheap suspension things should i try and get? i dont even know what bushings look like in a car! haha
