I finally got my dsmlink to work this weekend and had a crack at tuning it to see what I could do myself. The software says 252 ft-lbs and 228hp but from searching I hear its not very accurate. Mods are in my profile (keep in mind this is with a 255lph pump and no FPR :toobad: )
tell me what you think, any help is much appreciated.

man that graph is all over the place,
I cant tell what is what!
GL though, i will be in the same boat when my parts get here finally =)

ok now I see that the timing spikes up as soon as it starts to run lean, or is that richer?

Haha, Yeah some of the stuff I can't make sense of, thats where I was looking for help, Its kinda hard to see but if you look at the bottom you can see which lines are which based on the colors and what is checked.

I agree with you on the FPR, I know I need it and its the next thing on my list (really the first thing on my list, everything else was on the car when I bought it a month or so ago) but money is always tight for highschoolers! AS far as the boost levels, I think 15psi will be fine (I use 92 octane only) If you can see on the graph there is only one place where it got knock and that was just 0.4 degrees, Im sure i can tune it out though. Also I eventually creep to 15psi no mattter what my MBC is set at thanks to the 16g, haha.

as Aaron said, go to the DSMLink forums. You will get real help from years of experience with DSMLink, as well as help from the designers.

Really have no clue why people ask DSMLink questions anywhere but their.

+1 for the FPR and going to stock boost w/ an injector upgrade.

15psi on pump?
You mean only for initial tuning right? A decent base tune and pump gas at 15 psi w/ a small intercooler upgrade is how DSMs made their name!:rocks: That first 5 psi is easy. It's the next that begins things;) .

I also agree that the dsmlink forum is THE place to go. I believe you can upload your DSMLink files on this server though, and if you do that we can weed through the "log clutter". We have a whole sub-forum dedicated to logging. And many dsmlink questions are asked and answered there. Us DSMers are the ones that wanted dsmlink. AND the guys who built it started by asking questions here about what dsmtuner.com guys wanted.

A note on HP, Torque values, and A/F ratio values. Go to the top screen and click on Display. The go to Values. Here you can change the logged variables AND their prameters go to HP and Torque and you will see the Props button "activate". You can now let the software (not ecu, your pc) know what changes you've made to tire size, weight, injector sizing and then these values become MUCH more accurate... The HP estimator has been verified by several dynos to be w/in about 10-15 hp.

From what i've done w/ my old small 16G and from what others have done, 250 whp is about right for 15 psi. W/ the mods you have, take your time and tune well. You could reach 20 psi w/out too much knock. This compressor is surprisingly efficient and coupled w/ the td05h turbine wheel and 7cm^2 housing, it is my favorite of the little turbos (13G, 14B, T3, T28, Small 16G, Big 16G). Enjoy that superfast spool.

You are posting the graph totally wrong. You need to save the .dat file and then upload it onto here. This way people with the dsmlink program can open it.

On another note, you need to setup dsmlink correctly for your car. You do not have the correct injectors selected for the a/f estimate, noting the 15:1 A/F Ratio.

You are also logging WAY too many values at one time.

Ok, thanks for the help guys. I was going to post it on the dsmlink forums but it was in the car when I bought it so I dont have the username/password for the forums (I emailed the prvious owner so hopefully I'll have it soon). As far as changing all the values the tire size is stock, weight is stock and I set the global fuel to 32% which I think is right for the 650cc injectors? Could the crazy A/F ratio be from my not have a FPR yet?

No, you'll need to go to the values option under the display function on the main dsmlink screen to modify your a/f ratio. Then modify the "props" for a/f ratio. This may be why you are reading so lean on your af/ ratio log. Do the same for hp and trque to verify your software is using stock weight and tire size.

what happened to the dsmlink forums,
It used to be open to read and learn, but now its locked down.
I cant register, and I emailed the [email protected] email for a user/pass.

I got the keyspan adapter and tried to get it installed, I dont think it installed properly.
I cant get a signal from the ecu,
one problem is I ordered the ECU to run with 850's but still have the stockers in there, blah!
at least it started the first time. but im sure its running way lean, as its almost impossible to keep running.

any problems you ran into getting things to work the first time?

you cant use the dsmlink/forums unless you are an owner of dsmlink. This is setup so that you get real questions about dsmlink on the boards, and not randon bs from people that have nothing to add or learn in reguards to dsmlink.

I have DSMLink. So I could help as well here as there. I like the DSMLink forums because I can talk to the creators. Go to the Tuning & Engine Management subforum. Listen to those who have DSMLink and they'll help you until you get your connection to dsmlink.com/forums worked out.

One guy recently had a problem similar to yours and it turned out that one of the pins on the car's OBD port was loose and would connect w/ another dataloger/diagnostics connector. But, when the snug fitting dsmlink connector was used it would push the pin back into the port plug instead of feed into the dsmlink receptacle...

I had a similar problem and I found that my ecu was friend and charred due to the internal voltage regulator. She ran but eventually it melted away to oblivion and everything failed.

If you are getting a command timed out message, it means the application sent a command to the ECU but never got a response. That would certainly be the case if the cable were not plugged in correctly at the laptop or car. If you're getting a 'no COM port found' error message means that the COM port your laptop did find (probably COM3) is not really your USB/DB9 adapter.

I agree with you. I also have the link. Looking for help here isnt a bad idea. The only reason i suggested using the board, is you will have more people that are just as, if not much more familiar with it putting in their two cents. This helps weed out those who dont have it, and are trying to diagnose a problem they may or may not know much about.

I agree wholeheartedly! Though dsmtuners is coming along nicely, I don't want anyone to think that this forum is nearly as "catered" as the dsmlink forums are to dsmlink questions. I apparantly am not as clear in my posts as I ought to be:( . One will definately have to sift the garbage for the pearls. It's simply a band-aid.
