I have been looking for a relatively cheap fun car to play with and i came across this add for a 92 Laser

1992 Plymouth Laser RS Saanich, Victoria

I asked him

Any rust or accidents?
What color is the interior?
Everything work?
Did you do the mods or did the guy you got it from do them?
Do you have a list of all mods done?
What wheels (and what size) are those? (would like to look up and see how heavy they are)
How far behind on regular maintenance are you?
Do you have maintenance history?
Is the clutch slipping? (how do you know its only got 6 months on it)
Do you have any more (recent) pics?

To which he replied

no rust, no accidents, i did the mods, interior is grayish, old man drove it before me. it needs an alternator, strut and possible clutch, the clutch slipped on me at high rpms in 3rd gear but hasnt done it since seeing as though i drive it quite easy. its still driveable. right now it just needs a battery charge and me to probably change the alternator with its warranty, i put it in like 2 months ago. the wheels are 18" with 235/40/zr18 diamondbacks. i have maintenance history, but i did all the work so mostly lordco receipts. its basically priced to sell because i just need to get it off my hands. im going to school and just dont have the time to deal with it. Im going to be realistic here, if my car was in tip top running shape, i would be asking 3800. i knocked 900 bucks off because to be honest, the clutch is 195$ flywheel resurfaced 75$ struts 70$ (piece)alternator 150$.. those are all my costs on it, and i can get them for you at that price. this car basically needs an owner that wants to spend a weekend of work to get it back up on its feet.

Then i said LOL

I don't have the space, tools or skills to do a clutch on my own so i'm betting it will cost me a lot more then that to get a shop to do it.

Are there any other mods other then whats listed in the add? Also i did a bit a research about the FMIC and pretty much everybody says that with the stock turbo it actually just creates lag. What are your thoughts about it?

Do you know the name of the wheels? If they are really heavy i might want to change them form some smaller lightweight wheels. I just want to get an idea of what im going to be spending after i buy it hehe

Is there any kind of stereo in the car or is it all stock?

I have never driven or even had a ride in one of these cars before but i have always liked them.

What do you guys think? :hmm:

/book (sorry)

I am personal friends with the previous owner AND the new owner. I am glad you bought this car richard, solid compression, STRONG and CLEAN. ollie, the only advice i can give you is to read. read ALOT, because all those silly questions about the car you asked pretty much pissed the previous owner off and he wasnt going to sell it to you even for 3 grand. Anyway, again richard you got yourself a wicked car.

ROFL :boring:

Asking basic things about a used car!!.. how dare i! What a douche bag.

Then asking for specifics about the mods, clutch, if it has a ricey fart can and the weight of the wheels .. OMG!! Absolutely crazy silly things for a potential buyer to ask. The best was him trying to convince me not to get it inspected. Really inspires a lot of confidence. All i have to say is wow.

EDIT: also if he was so pissed and wasn't intending to sell why did he answer every single one of my questions and every email until he sold it?

we were humoring you. asking stupid things like "does the front mount make the turbo lag?? from what iv read its stupid to have a front mount with a stock turbo" just SILLY things you said. anyway, water under the bridge you missed out on probably one of the nicest 1gs around in BC. let alone just on the island. im not here to argue with you, im just letting you know some of the things you said were insulting almost, the end of the day you dont noe anything about dsm, thats why i said READ and learn. . :nono:

I dont ever post on here but richard sent me the link to this thread its pretty funny how u post on a dsm forum "I emailed him this" and "his reply said this" like... common dood.

and in response to your email about "wanting to hang with your buddys 2000 golf 1.8T" i believe you said, or something along those lines... im pretty sure you would walk him in a dsm.

on a side note, since you ARE from victoria, check out BCDSM.org you might find some good reading on there.

1. That's pretty lame of you guys. Seriously. All i asked was what he thought about the FMIC. I didn't know either way. So i asked his opinion since he did the mod. Seems reasonable to me *shrugs*

2. How dare i not know anything about a DSM. What a crime! This kind of elitist attitude really pisses me off. "I know something you don't about cars so obviously i'm much better then you". I asked questions and started this thread to try and learn as much as i could about a car i knew nothing about before it sold.

3. Not sure whats so funny? I added what i asked and what he responded with so people that felt like being helpful had all the info.

4. Thanks :)

It's funny how mean ppl can be. They r very rude, just be glad your not like them.LOL good luck with finding a great car!

LOL yea. I guess thats just the price of dealing with douche bag teenagers who are the worlds foremost experts on $3000 cars.

Not to many of these for sale in town right now guess i will have to wait a bit :D
