Ended up having to do the filler work again because as you can see from the pics it was a bit shallow after sanding. Second time was the charm tho... The pics show the last coat of 3 coats of epoxy primer. The first 2 coats were sanded and wet sanded. This one will remain thick until the rest of the body work is done... I found 2 small fish eyes in the primer. It will smooth out just fine though :thumb: Sry there aren't more detailed pics... I am just now getting used to stopping to take pictures so I forget a lot  :hellyeah:

[Edit: The Last picture is a 'before pic' for reference...]

Looks awesome!! good work.

Why did you get rid of the led brake lamp? I wish all model would have came with that instead of the one that rattles in the hatch.

i have to fill up the same holes in my spyder, did u have to put something on the inside of the hole for the filler to hold up?

3 Reasons.

1.IMO It doesn't look good on this car anywhere. It interrupts the lines in an intrusive way no matter where it is located.

2.There is a small gap under where the light used to be that is a recess to allow for the larger piece of plastic on the top of the center tail light piece. A small strip of LEDs hidden in the lip that now exists shining down makes a cool looking ambient light effect. And you cant see the bulbs just the glow.

3.It rattled. It was made with thin mounting edges. And was broken. Several of the LEDs also did not work.

Is the trunk sitting higher now that theres no spoiler? Looks like it from the pic

The trunk lid is popped in the pic. There are 4 bump stops that are adjustable as well as the latch. It all sits pretty straight when tightened down. Good eye tho ;)

I'm copying this from a member that asked me a similar question about the process. Here was my reply...

The holes were first welded shut and ground down. I used a piece of sheet steel backing on most of the larger holes. A few I couldn't get to so I just built up the weld and filled it in like a plug weld. The backs were then ground and I sprayed primer inside the best I could. After grinding them past flush(a little low) then I just used light weight filler(bondo) to skim the dents left over. You can see the sanded bondo in the pictures looks very oddly shaped. That's because the welding distorted the metal ever so slightly. I spread the filler wide across the whole area to make sure I was higher than the metal all over. After sanding it was still a little low so I spread and sanded filler again. It smoothed out well that time. I spread glazing putty to fill in small pinholes and cracks. Sanded and then primed, sanded, primed again, wet-sanded, then primed a final time. It currently sits unsanded.

I hope that helps :thumb:

i always liked the spyder 3rd brake light..but i think i like it more gone! LOL
