I went and decided to do some valve cover shaving today, well over a couple days as I had to wait to have my Dremel battery charge up.

The cover used was a "Mitsubishi" labeled cover but without the Mitsubishi logo in the upper left corner. It took some thought on what I wanted to do but ultimately decided to do a partial shave and keep the words "Mitsubishi" on it.

I used a cordless Dremel with an aluminum cutter bit for the ridges, fine leveling and doing the edges.

For the word removal I used a corded Craftsman angle grinder and it made short work of the letters and numbers.
I did mess up a little bit while taking the ridge out from under Mitsubishi as the bit caught part of the "S" and took a small chunk out. It's not too bad and you may be able to pick it out in the 3rd picture.

The cover is not finished, I still need to clean it and I want to get it powder coated. Don't mind the pink bubble wrap, that came with the cover :p

Enjoy the pictures

you've got alot of metal finishing to do to that before powder coating! next time try not to take it down so far with that coarse of a disc and finish it off with alot lighter sanding. also using the angle grinder u can try the pads that are like a scothbrite material. they will still remove a decent amount of material but leace alot smoother finish for you to do you final sanding to. good start though.

Yeah, I'm aware that I have more work to do, this was just what I have going now. When I'm all done I'll get more pics up at some point.

The whole thing needs a through cleaning just from how the underside was looking when it came to me. I was just glad that the powder cleans up nicely unlike grinding steel away and causing it to stick on everything.

I'll bring it by to you one of these days when I get it better prepped.
