So after my 50 trim shit the bed just before I was about to store it, I have been really looking into Holsets. I already had the plan of building my car over the winter to run 10's. That meant I wanted a HX40. I bid on a few used ones, some needed a little work. I finally found one on ebay that was priced just right.

HX40 Cummins Holset Turbo - eBay (item 330512260193 end time Dec-31-10 11:38:28 PST)

I called the guy up to get the background on it. He told me that he buys lots of items when businesses drop out or something like that. This particular turbo has 0 miles on it. It was sitting in a box. Freshly rebuilt by International. I told him I would give him $350 for it, and he took it. So I pretty much have a brand new T4 HX40 sitting on my bed right now.

Nice! I just picked up one as well. Are you planning on running that t4 backhousing? That thing should spool pretty slow I would think.

I ended up with a brand new in box Holset from Cummins for 325 from a guy on Craigslist, getting a dsm bep housing for it now. Hopefully I can get some good timeslips from it.

Lol the only reason why I had that can is because it was given to me. Most beers taste the same to me. I also plan on running the T4 housing. I dont feel like buying manifolds twice.

My brand new hx40 should arrive tomorrow. I got it from Justin here on the forum, he's a great guy. Mine is brand new and is a 7 blade, it moves almost 10lb/min more air than the 6 blade. I bought a bep t3 housing for it as well since i have t3 and external wastegate. I can't wait to get it installed on my brand new 2.4l motor.

nice pickup man.. also in the market but i seem to only find 7 and 8 blade.. really want that 6 blade 60mm

since when does a 7 blade move 10 lb/min more than the 6 blade? I would prefer the 7 blade. Same max flow as a 6 blade with more power earlier.

Sweet deal on a Reman HX40 for sure....although I did see that listing and I wasn't going to bid because of the pictures as well as the description of the wheel having made contact with the housing. These sellers need to get their shit straight if they want to make a real profit.

Is the inducer on your turbo 56mm or 60mm?

what do you mean by "grab something better"

Lol next time ill take a picture of it next to a 14b

Again, quite a find....but the deal won't last long if the seller has any idea what the HX40's are truly worth.

I've bought a couple deals like that in the past for customers, but honestly I have not seen even a used or rebuildable 6-blade 60mm HX40 for under $400 in quite some time with new / reman units hovering in the $700+ range.

Which is why I jumped on it. I was used to seeing used holsets that needed work for the same price. And new ones, or reman'd, upwards of 700.

Great find!!

Seems the Holset band wagon is growing. I just picked up my own 60mm H1E this past week. Now I need to find a 7 blade comp wheel for it for me to be truly happy!

You'll have to get the backplate machined a tiny, tiny bit....but the 7-blade compressor will fit behind the 8-blade compressor cover without a problem.

?? The exducer larger on the 7 blade comp wheel? I haven't been able to find one to see what the measurements are on them. Thanks for the tip, may have not noticed other wise. :thumb:
