Fidanza short shifter 1G & 2G [Merged 3-7]

Fidanza now makes short shifters for 1g's. Does anyone have one of these or have any info on them.

I am currently waiting on my FIDANZA short throw shifter to come in. Supposed to be very nice quality, that of a BM, and can be made to fit a 90 w/ little modification.

Is this a good quality short throw shifter?

I run one in my 91. No it does not come with a shift knob. The quality is nice but the fitment is so so. I, as well as a few other have had to drill out the hole in the shifter a small bit in order to properly fit the bushing inside the new unit. I, as well as others, have called Fidanza, and basically, in a nutshell, they offered no fix, but admitted that the hole is drilled to small and basically told me to go F myself and fix it myself. Yes, it was a fairly simple fix but for Fidanza to offer no fix and being so rude with me really make me question weather or not they care. Other than that its a nice unit and reduces throw by about 30-40%.

so what about the 90, anyone bought one of these for a 90 yet? I know sbr's site says it needs a little modding for it to work on the 90's, anyone had the balls to try this yet? a short through shifter with a shorter shift knob would change throw so drastically I can't imagine it.

i remember reading when they first cae out that they do not come with the stops like the stock shifter. You nee dto put your old stop on the fidanza unit or risk breaking shit.

I bought one when I had my 90...it was a pain in the ass to make work... it looked a little different and I bought it from slowboy. I had to grind some of the corners to make it work but when finished it was nice. I think I still have it laying around...

I bought one when they first came out and put it in. I liked it and it dramatically lessoned the throw. I made the thread long ago about it not having stops, however I had it in that car for a few months and never once had a problem. I'd like see if they indeed started using stops.

Its a qeustion thats all since there is no 1G shifters that a worth buying and all of them dotn have stoppers. Im interested in buying on if it really does have stoppers and fits nice

just fyi, i know this thread is way old but o well.. i recently ordered a fidanza short shifter for my 2g before reading up on how they dont come with stoppers. after i read all these threads about them, i immediatly called back and wanted to cancel my order. so anyways the sales person looked into it and called the fidanza people about it and said he would call me back. he never did but a week later i called them again asking them where my short shifter is. the same guy got back on the line and i guess fidanza did some redesigning and are now including stoppers with their shortshifter due to my causing. i feel special. so ill let yall know how it goes when i get it. but id just like to recommend this online store for customer service

did a mod edit his post since he listed a vendor, or did you just not say what online store you got it from?

either way, I still would like to hear from some more 90 owners about the modding needed to get this to work. I want to get a short shifter with a short knob, throw should be 200% shorter....(I know thats impossible, don't flame me for using a hyperbole with number) since that 1g shifter knob is like a 12" subway sandwhich....

can you tell me how it fits on a 90 before I buy something that might not even work. If you have 50, Im sure you have acess to a 90 somehow. I dunno it would just be helpful, obviously if its going to cost you money then you dont have to, and even if it doesn't cost you money you dont HAVE to, but it would be helpful to know what needs to be done to fit it in a 90. For you 90 1g guys, a slight modification is required to make this work, but we have had them work just fine after the mods!
...bs...major mods needed like lots of welding ,there is no stop on the shifter its self(chrome part) and no bumpstops on the base of the shifter(black part)you can get the same thing on ebay for $30...dont bother with that junk unless u got a machine shop cause thats what i got the machinist at work doin for me now ull have to take the old shifter out and give it to the machinist so they some thing to go buy...if u want it done right.

They stop you from overshifting and bending/breaking shift forks.
