About to get suspension for my 1g. Looking for thoughts and info on these two. I have koni GC on my 2g but hear nothing but good on Feal.

Car will be mostly on the street and car meets. Will be doing some drag and few auto X more drag though. A good amount of Spirited driving in the mountains close by. I have work truck so it won’t be a DD.

    Also anyone running these? Thoughts?

PS I know the rears are discontinued for the 1g but 2g fit with no modifications but slightly different in length. By about an inch or so.

At this point I'd probably go Feal if I were to choose, mainly due to Feal's support of the platform. Though I would never try and talk someone out of the Koni setup on these cars. They worked great on my 1g. If I had the cash though I'd try and get the Ohlins kit from Muellerized if he's still doing them. That would be the ultimate.

I currently run FEALS on my 1G and couldn't be happier, you can even call them up before purchasing, tell them what you will be using the car for (track, street, autocross ect) and they will do custom spring rates for your application..

As Luda said the Ohlins are the ultimate but you are talking almost 3k..

I think the Ohlins are more than that, but even then, they're still not as expensive as they are for some other platforms. If you want your car to handle and be extremely compliant for daily driving, they would be the best option out there for this car. I realize not many DSMers have the budget for them though. And that's why I think Feals would be a good option. As others have said, you can call Feal and they will work with you on spring rates, and they're valved for this application, which is really cool. You can't really say that for the Koni setups. As well as the spring and perch setup (Koni/GC) worked for me, it is kind of nice to have a real kit that doesn't require some assembly and can be serviced by the manufacturer.

I ran Konis/GC for 3 years on the race car. Did many time attacks and autox. They worked great for the money.
I have no experiance with Feal but heard great things about them.
6 months ago I went with Ohlins through Mullerized. Outstanding setup and handling. John went above and beyond to set the car up properly over the phone, from install to alignment specs. Out the door they ran just under $3200 if I remember correctly with the hardware and bracketry needed

Damn, I didn't realize you could get that kit for $3200 - I remember it being more back when I was talking to them about it. That's a really good deal for an Ohlins kit. Did you happen to post an install article for the kit? I know it's not really a much different process than other kits, but it would be good to see a write up posted for it in the Tech Articles suspension section.

Just as a reminder, off the shelf feals are not customizable anymore. You will need to go with the 441+ kit for custom springs rates. 441+ includes the swift springs. The regular kit does not

I never did a write up article. I should've... It is a little different from most kits as the rear shocks, for example, use a bracket to bolt to the knuckle, instead of directly to it.

Yes, the base kit costs $2600 but them you need the brackets for a DSM and hardware which was like $500 more. The reason for the brackets is because the struts are actually for an evo 8\9 and they make slight adjustments to them to make them fit on DSMs

Any chance you'd be able to snap some photos and create an article after the fact? Would be great to have one posted.

That would be awesome, appreciate it. Even though not many will go for an Ohlins kit, it would be great to have a write up for it anyway.

A lot of good info guys much appreciated. I have about a month or 2 if I can save up and swing 3k+ I’ll get the Ohlins.

Working on my rear sub frame bushings etc now front is all new so I do want good suspension.

But like my step dad said years ago can’t go fast for cheep reliably. Weather drag racing (l) or track (S) it all cost $$$$$

Yes sir, the old adage goes something like.. "you must pay to play young man" and that is never truer than with DSM parts, I just wish more newbies to the platform would take that advice to heart.. Quality parts = quality returns, GL with your suspension setup sir!!

Are the Swift springs worth the investment vs the OTS feal springs? What is the difference?

More tailored to your application and intentions. I've been eyeing them for a bit and reading reviews, the Swift springs offer that "extra" performance that you'd want in a purposeful car, without sacrificing the daily aspect. Just what I've gleened from my readings over the past year, and imho, I'd get them if/when I go to coilovers.

Yes, I would also recommend the swift spring upgrade, I would also recommend calling FEAL directly, they are very receptive and will tell you exactly what you need for whatever application you are going to run(auto-x, street, strip ect) by recommending custom spring rates..
