I just got the FAL slimline dual fans, with the colored shroud. It came with a bulky black box for wiring different set ups. Anyone that has one of these fans, can you just eliminate the black box and wire the fans direct, to the stock wires. I already know which wires to make this work like stock, i just dont want to use the black box and was wondering if it steps down the volts or anything before the fans. I dont want to blow these new fans if they require less voltage when using the black box etc. Anyone that has seen this black box, and did you bypass it? Thanks

Which specific fans did you order? If it's one of the generic kits they usually come with a black box thats the temperature controller, is there some thin metal tubing attached to the box with a bulb at the end? If so that is a temperature controller box. You don't need to hook it up but I guess if you wanted to do some custom wiring & have the fans controlled by rad temp & not the ecu, you could use it.

I just want to hard wire it straight without the black control box/probe. These are the Flex-a-Lite Blue Shroud 210/ 220. Part number 325B . Did i buy a generic version or something? I am wanting the fans controlled by ECU. Thanks

No the 325 should be the vehicle specific model (thought it isn't a direct bolt on like they say) I just wasn't sure if they came with the control box as well. If the box you have is the temp control box (that I described earlier), then no you don't need it if you want the fan control off the ecu.

For being vehicle specific, it sure as hell isn't plug and play. It will work with a fluidyne radiator though, for those wondering. You have to make metal brackets. The wiring though i thought sure was plug and play and its not. Fits and looks nice though. I still have to do the wiring. Thanks for the inputs. :rocks:

Well, overall im happy with the fans. They just barely fit with a fluidyne radiator. I had to make 4 metal brackets to accomodate the holes being misaligned. I clipped the wires on the passenger side: Doubled up "Blue and Green" and "Yellow Black wires" They work great. I ran them to both come on at the same time. The fans flow a lot better than stock and are more quiet.
