Has anyone tried this out? Mishimoto Aluminum Fan Shroud / Mitsubishi Eclipse 1990-1994 (DSM 1G) - Modern Automotive Performance I searched and could only find one thread but they were asking the same thing as me. My car is have overheating issues in traffic and it's only starting to get hot out. I have an aluminum radiator, a new water pump, and I put a half a bottle of water wetter in (which I'm going to add more). I'm only running only slim fan now because the other broke (most likely from overheating). I never had overheating issues before but with the hx35 setup and tial wastegate my car just can't control the heat. I was thinking of seeing how the car reacted with my thermostat removed, or just gutting it. I would still like to get this though because it is a more permanent solution. Does anyone know if it will clear my wastegate, I'm running an 02 mounted tial wastegate. When I had my other fan on before it was very close to touching. I sent maperformance a pm but got a confusing response back that didn't really help.

I have a similar setup. With the FP manifold and o2 mounted TiAL, the wastegate comes within about an inch of my stock radiator, not enough clearance for the mishimoto slim fan I just received in the mail. I'm thinking of cutting the fan shroud in half and using one half on the passengers side as pull and putting the other fan (no shroud) in front of the radiator on the drivers side as push, just because there is no way to fit it behind the radiator with the TiAL there.

So you bought this fan shroud setup or just the fans?

I thought that you get hot spots on your radiator from not having a shroud? The shroud allows hot air to be pulled from the entire radiator making the fans more efficient right?

I do believe the shroud is used to help concentrate the air flow at the fans. If space is an issue and you do not have a/c, you may want to look into a pusher fan on the driver side along with your main cooling fan on the passenger side.

i placed a best offer on one on ebay today.

idk if it will fit with the o2 dump mounted TiAl 44mm(just bought have not received yet)

I thought about putting a pusher on there, but the oil cooler rest right up to the radiator so unless I put an after market one in, I don't think that would work. But I check it out again and see.

My buddy's (kchazz) a/c fan motor keeps melting the brush retainers. It's just a little too close to the exhaust side of things. I have used a single 14'' slim line kinda pushed over towards the passenger's side. I have it running all of the time by shorting the temp switch on the radiator. (It also helps to keep my I/C piping cool by blowing on it all the time, too.)

I picked up a 10" pusher slim fan from Spal and will be able to fit that in. I have a stock oil cooler but used a piece of angled aluminum to make a bracket which moved it foward some. I also have a 12" spal pusher fan after my flex-a-lite puller died (it was rather old). The 10" is more of a back up or if I'm in traffic which is manually wired to a switch.

Who generally has the best prices on Spal?

Seems like they're the way to go if you have an o2 mounted external

I just went through them direct. The slim 10" pusher was around $80-90 if I remember (30100456). I also picked up their relay kit for $40 which has some high quality wiring. You can pick up a temp switch and all or wire it into your other fan. The main 12" (30102030) fan was a bit more, around $170 but it huffs some serious air and runs way less then my flex-a-lite. I'm getting ready to mount my 10" fan as I didn't have mounting straps (spal doesn't provide them)
Here's an idea of the room you'll have if you run pushers and move the oil cooler forward just a bit.

I just got finished throwing away the Mishimoto fan shroud. What a waste of money. The two 10" fans that came with it are worthless. Together they could not pull enough air to cool my car down at idle. I installed just the stock rad fan and it cooled my car way better than the 2 10" Mishimoto fans.

I would not waste my money on this. I am going to try to use the fans as pushers for my A/C, hopefully they will work for that.
