I finally finished rebuilding the bottom end on this '90 motor i aquired and when i turned on the car i noticed that the exhaust gear wobbles way too much. I tried then swithing the gear with the one of the 2g head, no fix. then i figured maybe the cam is bad so i replaced it with the 2g cam. I know for a fact that the 2g head is good and the 1g head has had work done. Is it possible the problem is in the head somewhere?
ps I know the cam is not bolted down. Truth is it dosent make a difference.

Or the head was set down on the cam gear oddly.
I have seen that before, slight bend and crack in the gear.

Yep, either it's not flat against the cam or there's a bend.
If you have the time, why not swap them Intake to Exhaust and vice versa. If it's cocked sideways on the other cam and you're sure it's flush on the shaft, you have a bent gear.
However, it should be fairly easy to tell. Use a small carpenters square to find out.

Not having the cam bolted fully down will allow for the gear to appere distorted.

One set of lobes will lift the cam and give it a tilt.

Bolt the cam down and check again.

I've tried 3 different gears and all have the same results. Thinking back i think i can recall what might have bent the gear and so i just kept the intake gear of the 2g head on there. Nearest to perfectly straight to me. Thanks for the input guys.
finished product.

Keep an eye on her then, as an even slightly wobbling gear (provided this one isn't perfectly right angled to the camshaft) will convince that belt to walk.

Mine did also, it could be as simole as a bent cam gear or the cam surface is not even where the gear attches, try a new gear first it fixed mine for the most part, bc272s don't help...

Cam journals could also be out of round. Or the caps.
