ok, i picked up this turbo today, and i noticed the echaust haousing was missing the divider between the echaust wheel and the wg, i took a closer look and it was removed by some orting it or something, you definatly see that it was done with a carbide bit. so my question is this, does it affect anything? i noticed the car it came off of, it had a blown 02housing gasket since the divider is not there. would it cause turbulance or anything like that?

i search and searched and came up with nothing about havindthe divider take off

Dejon powerhouse used to offer this service with its turbos in order to help with boost creep, they got the idea from PTE. it's there to allow even more exhaust to flow freely past the turbine when the wastegate is actuated

I'm guessing your talking about something like this?

As said above this is the purpose of removing the divider...

As long as your not running a wastegate off the o2 housing there isn't any problem running a housing like this.

nope it shouldn't adversly affect anything, until you need to run an external wastegate.

it's a little trick to reduce boost creep that E3 turbos are apparently know for

Cool man, thanks for the info. I doubt ill run this turbo with a external wg

I'm not tracking. How would this be a bad thing if you ran the wastegate off the O2 housing? Am I missing something simple?

Maybe since there is nothing separating the exhaust gasses and the wg gasses , maybr the exhaust gases can open up the wg I dont know..just thinking out loud here

Gasses for 'gates on the manifold aren't separated either. It's the boost source that's supposed to open the 'gate.

I have no idea then on how it could be bad to run a wg on the o2 housing cause I'm interested on that set up so someone chim in

If you do porting like shown above you cannot run a wastegate off the O2 housing. You only can run an internal wastegate. With that wall removed the exhaust gases will just flow out the wastegate hole and straight into the exhaust avoiding the wastegate. It would be like running with no wastegate or with the waste gate always open.

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. When you run a wastegate off the O2 you remove the flapper. So in my pictures it is assuming you use something like the Mild Steel 38mm Recirculated o2 Housing For Eclipse/Talon

I figured out what was going on, even though I don't think your drawings do a great job of explaining it. The issue isn't getting exhaust through the wastegate, it's getting exhaust through the turbine when it can go around the turbine instead. So the issue isn't overboost, it's underboost.

So either way can't run a wg on the o2 with a turbo that has that mod, only thing is to run a wg off of the manifold
