EvoGT 16g WG actuator, makes me nervous.

I was wondering if, as far as the adjustable actuator goes, if there is a certain way Im supposed to have it set up. The wg flapper doesnt seem like it opens enough, it just kinda hangs at a 45* angle when it opens up. Im wondering if its improperly adjusted, or if its just like that, because it doesnt seem to be hitting anything.

Also, could I just eliminate my whoes all together and put the wg from my 14b on it? I just want to be sure it will work before I just go and do it.

You could use the 14b and be done with it, but if creep is your main concern it's going to take some MAJOR porting to get rid of it. I ported the ever living piss out of my knock off 16g and it holds boost steady until 6k up and it'll start to creep to 12psi (from 8), and in the longer gears it'll even creep upwards to 15psi. So, irregardless of what actuator you use, I recommend porting the holy hell out of it to help your chances even more.

As far as adjusting the arm, I just unscrewed mine so that it was capable of fitting over the wastegate arm and keep it completely closed. If I removed it and twisted it back one, it doesn't fit. If it twist it one forward it doesn't set all the way. It takes about 5 minute to find the spot, but it's not bad.

PORT PORT PORT PORT PORT before you put it on. You can find lots of threads on it on here using Search. Be forewarned though, as porting my turbo turned me into a dremel addict. :p

The EvoGT big 16g (or, my version of it) already has the wg outlet ported. If I were to go further it would only be about ||... ok, not even that much. It also has a larger intake hole.

It can't open at 90' if that's what you are looking for. The most I have gotten a turbo wg to open is about 60' but that was very heavy porting and every actuator is different so it really depends on the arm. Put a compressor the actuator and try to adjust it so it still closes and seals perfect but opens the maximum possible. Only way to adjust to the max.

The WGA doesn't have much throw. There's nothing you can do about it without modifying the WGA. However, if you will still have the stock exhaust, you shouldn't have a creep problem. The other guy has a turboback exhaust with no cat, and that's when you'll creep.

There is a way to hack apart the WGA and modify it to give longer throw, but it requires welding. It's one of the more recent tech articles by Mr Peepers.

If you plan on eventually running 20psi or so, you might not have to worry about creep; you just run 20psi and that's what it wants to creep to. But you have to have all of those supporting mods that are lacking in your profile;).

For now, just adjust the WGA so that it has good preload on the WG flapper. Otherwise, boost will leak past the flapper and decrease spoolup.

I agree. Make sure it seals because that's the most important function of that part.

Actually, limiting boost is more important. And flowing exhaust around the turbine wheel smoothly is also important. Keep in mind that the WG is open at maximum power (full boost). It's only closed while boost is building. But I agree...if the WG doesn't stay closed, you won't build any boost which is no fun.:p

EDIT: But with a evo3b16g and 3" turboback, building boost isn't much of a problem.OMG

You are right. I guess I've only had problem with it sealing good.

if the waste gate is not adjustable on the 16g what is the adjuster nuts on the rode for?

To get the correct length of the arm and to adjust the preload on the spring to hold the flapper closed until you reach the boost you want (backpressure on the flapper is trying to push it open, and you don't want it to until the compressor is boosting at the desired pressure).

would i be able to put a vacum pump on the wg nipple and adjust it like that?
