i was rebuilding my evo 3 gt 16g and my dad chiped the (pretty good sized pice)tip of a blade :banghead: and i want to know if this will damage the turbo like throw it off balance or make alot of drag in it. so will it be ok or should i just get a new compressor wheel. and where can i find a evo GT wheel at if i do

thanks

Yes it will be something you'd want to replace, as far as a new wheel. You could have it converted to a real 16g, or just find another eBay wheel for it.

I am not sure if that evo gt 16g shaft size is compatible with MHI parts. Your rebuild kit may not work with that turbo and you may not be able to install an MHI wheel on it. Those turbos are basically cheap throw away turbos. i'd just trash it and buy another ebay 16g or better yet buy a real mhi turbo in the classifieds.

They can be converted to full mhi with the eBay compressor cover. It needs put on a lathe and machined to fit the MHI wheel though.

It's not Genuine- then again, neither is your turbo:

Mitsubishi TD05 TD05H EVO3 16G Turbocharger Compressor Wheel

This will only work if your turbo actually says "Evo III GT" on the cover, meaning it was sold by Texas Rebuild under the "GT Concepts" branding. The eBay knockoff 16G's have a slightly smaller shaft size meaning this wheel would never center itself on the shaft, and the turbo would grenade in a short period of time.
