throwing DTC P0513 and car wont start im using the 9653 and i cant get the immobilizer to work properly on my eclipse.... can some one send me there rom that has been disabled and ill change the maps ect to fit my car becaus ethis thing has me stumped... car cranks just no sparks...thansks

Quick question about the speed density. Does anybody make a cable, similar to the 1g from fullthrottletech.com that converts the iat and map sensor to the 2g maf harness? If not, what is the pin out to do that if possible?

James

You wouldn't want to do that. The SD patch is setup to take its inputs from the MDP sensor pin and the fuel temperature pin. Trying to put things together differently is asking for trouble. There is an option to run the temperature sensor through the IAT input but that doesn't allow you to easily switch back and forth from a MAF based rom to an SD rom. Really the wiring is simple, you just need to get one wire from the engine bay to the ecu and everything else is already run for you. I grounded my temp sensor on the IM and the MDP harness has everything you need.

More news on my adventures with the Evo Ecu. I decided to try running the 9563 rom again. I copied all my stuff off my current rom (9055) to the new rom.

The Good:
It doesn't kick the front o2 heater CEL that 9055 gives me. (my o2 sensor may be on it's way out anyways)

The Bad:
It can't control my fuel consistently. It just jumps all over the place during closed loop. My injector scaling has to be way high just to keep the STFT from hitting -25% during idle. Everything works fine in my 9055 rom.

I'm abandoning my attempts to run 9563.

So, I switched back to my 9055 rom. I just put some PTE 680s and a Walbro 190 last Wednesday and the injectors really needed tuned. I leaned it out where I needed and now it pulls real nice. My IDC% is about 58% at 13psi and 10.7 AFR up top. Tomorrow, I'm going to try turning up the boost and leaning it out some more and see where that gets me.

As far as the 9055 rom goes, disable the front o2 heater in the periphery.

For 9563, did you copy over you maf size and scaling? sure you have the inj scaling correct?

Which periphery/bit for the front o2 heater CEL?

Yeah, I had it all copied over.
All the MAF stuff, the injector stuff, idle RPMs, fuel maps, timing maps, etc.

Basically, it was everything that makes the 680s work fine with the 9055 rom.

I had the same fuel trim problem when using 9563 with the stock 450cc injectors and stock fuel pump.

One thing to note is that both my o2 sensors (front NB and my LC-1 WB) have been acting weird since I seafoamed the car. I tried to "clean" the WB o2 sensor by heating the tip up cherry red with a propane torch then lightly tapping it on the floor. It knocked all the carbon off the outside. I have a spare WB sensor still laying around here somewhere, so I'm going to put that in either tonight or tomorrow. I keep kicking errors on the LC-1 for sensor malfunction.

Still, the front o2 sensor is cycling properly, just every once in a while, it cycles a bit slower than it should.

On another note though...

I think I'm going to do a BLT on my car then try to run the MAF scaling thing listed on evolutionm. I made a nice excel spread sheet that should make scaling a breeze once I set the periphery bit to run full open loop.

I just copy and paste in airflow hz, AFR Map, and WB AFR from a log. It automatically omits the readings less than 10 AFR and more than 16 AFR (like when the injectors shut off when coasting) when doing the calculations.

It then plots a trend line and gives you new MAF scaling values to try based on that trend line. It's really spiffy, but I haven't had the time to do a BLT since I put the new injectors in, so I haven't tested the spreadsheet. :aha:

I'll be home tonight (finally) so why don't you send me your rom and I'll see if I can find any issues with it.

That goes for you too Hediki if you're still having troubles. I'll PM you each my email. I should really make a disposable email so I can just post it on the forums without worry.

Unfortunately I didn't get to the roms tonight but I work out of cell/internet range for the next week with brief visits to civilization so I've downloaded them and I'll just do the work when I'm bored after supper. That is unless this week goes like last week and I end up getting drunk while practicing my golf swing.

No problem. I have my car running 20psi now on the 9055 rom. :D Once I get that dialed in, I'll step it up some more. I'm up around 235 load now. It's pulling good, even through the auto transmission. I think a shift kit will soon be a need and not a want. I'm getting about 21lb/min at only 4000rpm out of the s16g. I haven't taken it on a long enough stretch to take it to redline.

I'm having an interesting issue when I went to put my Evo ECU in. I first went with a tephra modded 9653. I copied all the important maps over from my 9417 that worked in the past. It started fine and quickly, but my logging was showing 120 counts of knock at idle and my wide band was maxed out on the lean side. Thinking I missed something, i flashed the 9417 that worked fine a couple months ago and it was doing the exact same thing.

I can post logs or the tune when I get home if it helps, but does anyone possibly have a no CEL, no problems map they want to send me? If it's scaled for FIC 850s, that would be even sweeter.

Nope. The 9417 was stock on my ECU and I had it working for quite awhile. The 9653 was an experiment that failed horribly.

Plugged the stock ECU back in and it's back to being fine. I just want this to work so I can get my 850s in there and really turn up the boost.

I don't think it has anything to do with being 97. My car has a September 96 build date and it is perfectly happy. Have you changed the knock request on evoscan to log knock for a 97 ecu? That could definitely change how things work. Also the v7 mods did some interesting things to my logging of 2byte load, I was seeing load in excess of 5k. I was told to switch to 1byte and that was all I did to look into it. I imagine that what is happening here is that you are not changing the datalist for evoscan to match the mut table provided with Tephra roms. Which version of Tephra mods are you using?

I'll get to those roms yet but not being home ever and trying to get ready to move has been kicking my ass lately. I'm never home before 10 anymore and by then I can't see straight.

I'll try 9055 out next time I get a chance. Hopefully this weekend.

As for which Tephra mod, I'm pretty sure I'm using v6 which is not the new one. I just wanted it for the knock CEL and Valet mode really. Should I have to change the knock request? Since I'm using the Evo ECU, it should stay the way it is.

I'm almost debating starting fresh over with evoscan and ecuflash. I've made so many little changes to things that I don't know what I've even done anymore.

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to ask this, thought people here may be knowledgeable about the Evo cars.

I'm going to be attempting to port the Evo5/6 ROMs over to the 98/99 DSM ECUs, because the Evos have a bunch of nice extra features like Boost Control, etc.

I'm Looking at the 1998 Evo5 RS and GSR and 1999 Evo6 RS and GSR.

What is the difference between the RS and GSR models?

Can a RalliArt image be flashed to a RS or GSR ECU?

Did the Evo 5/6 have the factory boost gauge? And did they come any extra hardware like a IC Spayer, ALS(AntiLag), Cyclone Manifold, etc?

Thanks for any help, and please pardon my Evo ignorance.

I'm fairly certain that v6 is broken. Try using v7 or if you really just want those features then really you should use v5.10 which is incredibly easy to set up and proven stable. The knock request is different between evos and DSMs. If you have not altered it then don't.

Starting over is often quite helpful until you get to know what you are really doing for sure. You will want to get 9653 going eventually regardless of what you do with 9055 because 9653 gets all the goodies and 9055 is not heavily supported.

I have a 2003 evo8 ecu and an evo maf i may up for sale shortly if anyone is interested. They have 42k on them, i was planning to use them but i think i may bail on the project.

It took me all of 2 hours to get my evo ecu swapped in, and it only took that long because I took pictures of EVERYTHING so I could eventually get around to a write up on the install.

Since then, I've spent hours tuning and messing with stuff, but I had the car setup and running in less than half an hour.

And tonight, I pulled a half throttle 0-60 mph run in about 5 sec. Once I get my WBo2 working again (bad sensor) I'll push it harder. That's 20psi running very conservative timing and 10.5:1 AFR up top. I hope I can get to the track soon with 25. :p It's feeling real good...

Oh, and I now have 3500+ miles on my evo ecu swap. I'll come close to 4.5k by the end of the month.
