my main question is can an evo 3 16g be installed without a fuel system upgrade or logging software as long as the boost levels are kep very low like 10psi?

the reason i'm doing the turbo first is becuase my stock t25 took a dump and it's killing me to see my car just sitting in the garage. plus i'm borrowing my bro's car and don't want to keep too long.

i don't have enough money atm to upgrade it all at once so here's what i was thinking of doing first. evo 3 16g ported and upgraded flapper, ported evo manifold (found out mine has a small crack in it), ported evo o2 housing, and a n1 turbo back. then in a couple of weeks (when i get my next paycheck) do the fuel system; 255 wally, pte 780 injectors, afpr with gauge, and dsmlink. i know the 255 and 780 injectors are over kill for the e316g but just in case i want to upgrade i'm going with them.

so again is it safe to run this turbo without any type of control?

thanks for the input. darren

Really should have searched, this topic has been beaton to death, see my post a few down in this thread I just answered recently:

Basically keep it 14 or under & you will be safe, don't try to push it without a logger. As for not going WOT, that isn't true in most cases. You will be running a stock exhaust so that will decrease your chances of creep, plus you are getting it ported and the flapper mod. If the evoIII is ported correctly (there is a tech article on here how to do it properly to prevent boost creep, this is something you will have to do yourself, not the std porting that vendors offer) you won't have creep issues. Both mine and a buddies who I ported the same way can hold 13 psi solid to the redline without any creep. We both have 3" turbo back exhaust systems, I'm runnin a 3" high flow cat but he does run a straight pipe.

I dont see why not, if you keep it at stock boost, which is like 10 psi, it shouldnt be a problem till you get the rest of the mods. SO basically, if you do get the e16g, dont drive it like you stole it, ya dig?

I use to run 16lbs on a evo3 with just a 190 and full 3 inch exhasut. no knock, no ping, no creep. spin all 4's

I have the EVO III GT and I have no boost creep problems at all. I can set the boost at 10psi and it will hold to redline. I am at 13lbs with no fuel delivery problems so far (using both DSMLink and Wideband O2) with the stock fuel system (pump rewired).

You may want to opt for a 34mm flapper, or take a look at the EVO III GT.

At the very least I'd get a logger to check for any signs of knock. I had all my fuel mods except a fuel pump for about half a year (school) and basically couldn't go above 5000 RPM without the fuel pump running out of flow.

you should be fine, although when i had my e 3 16g and nothing else she crept to 20 psi on me :shhh: you could go with the 34mm flapper but for future reference they tend to not hold boost so well up top due the to much exhaust release im running the 31mm as of now and enjoying it.

Mine didn't creep with stock exhaust.:rocks:

10 lbs is fine. Any higher, you need to log it. At 10 lbs you can drive it as hard as you want to without any risk of fuel cut, knock or detonation IMHO. Any higher, you gotta log it.
