I have a '97 Eclipse GST Spyder. Would it be possible to get a 1g 4g63 n/t engine and install an Evo III 16g turbo as an upgrade or should I just get a 1g turbo engine and do the upgrade later?

why in the world would you want a 4g63 none turbo motor? And you don't want a 1g turbo motor you want a 6bolt motor. Remember not all 1g's had 6 bolts.

But why don't you buy the 6 bolt and put the evo on your current engine? Run the engine till it blows up and then swap in the 6 bolt. thats what i wish i did, now i'm stuck with a 6 bolt that is burning oil like thier is no tom.

id invest in a turbo motor man, they come stock capable of 400hp on stock internals, plus turbocharging a non turbo motor is gonna cost alot more then getting a turbo motor in my opinion but thats just a little of my 02

Been said before and will be said again. If you want turbo, buy turbo. This goes for full cars as well as engines. The 4g63 is lacking some of the parts that the 4g63t has, mostly in the head, not to mention lower compression on all cylinders to allow the turbo room to run.

And yeah, you'll want a six-bolt. Shoo that crankwalk away!
