I bought an evo III 16g brand new, when i got it i ported the wastegate flapper area behind the hinge to make the wastegate open up more and i ported the inlet hole that mates up to the exhaust manifold, Is it possible that this changed its boost setting? I thought evos were supposed to be wastegated at around 13psi, my boost guage reads 10psi. The system has been boost leak checked and virtually no leaks are present. Is this abnormal?

Hey Denji, I see you're in Va. beach as well. I have an Evo3 on my 1g, and I'm pretty sure the actuator is set to only 10 lbs stock. Someone can hopefully back me up, but I'm 95% positive. I've ran an external gate for the past 2 years, so I can't remember for sure. Your mods show a boost controller, so just turn it up and enjoy.:thumb: :laser:

Do you still have your BCS connected? If so you should probably see around 13 psi but if you are running your WG pressure tap direct you will see less, probably around 10 psi like you mentioned. Mine was around that witout the BCS.

Also just as a side note you didn't have to worry about removing material behind the flapper as there is more then enough room for full flapper travel from factory since the Mitsu actuators only open the flapper about 45 deg at full extension.

HAHA are you serious? Oh well. I got it off of a thread here. Anyhow, im sure it didnt hurt, I didnt remove very much at all. I wonder why that guy said to do that?! No, i no longer have the boost controller, or the BCS. The boost controller I had i borrowed from a friend, he wasnt using it but he wanted it back, so Im buying one of the voodoo ones off ebay. They have good feedback and i found a few threads on here vouching for them, but im on a budget so im not spending too much. I used to have a turboxs, but I sold it because it was a bleeder type (they sell it for around $75 bucks, which i think is way too much for it not even being ball and spring. Thanks for the heads up though, the turbo feels so weak at 10psi, I need to wake this thing up!

i just slapped in a voodoo manual because my friend wanted his boost controller back it holds 18psi fine i think i got 2 for under 20$

I almost bought one but i got impatient and built a boost controller yesterday. Now my friend I have felt a BIG difference. My expectations have now been met. Its amazing how much different it feels even over my old t28 killer that was the same cfm and hp ratings. I spent about the same as a voodoo online but its in NOW and i know it is good because i made it.. Also, it was a good experience for me, if anyone ever needs one all i need is 11 bucks and 1 hour to make it.

Good stuff, glad to hear it's running quicker. You having any problem's with boost creep? I actually saw you the other day while I was out for a ride on the bike. Look's good:thumb: You just need to drop that bad boy. We'll have to get up for a meet, when my motor goes back in.:laser:

Ya removing the material behined the flapper won't hinder performance at all, just a waste of your time :D Most don't test the actuator & therefore don't know how far their travel is. Looks like you already made youraelf a boost controller but if your looking for a fairly cheeck one that works great & is very stealth I would recommend the Joe P IL series. I ran one of these when my EBC crapped out for a second time (side note, Greddy sucks :notgood: ) & it works great. As for having the same cfm rating as the T28, that really doesn't mean all that much lb/min is much more important. cfm isn't the max rated flow of the turbo, its rated at a certain psi, I believe around 15 psi, so this doesn't tell you what the turbo can do when maxed out.
