I have a 95 tsi awd with 560cc evo injectors, 20g turbo with external wastegate, safc, walbro 255, afpr, now some guy wants to sell me a eprom ecu socketed and chipped , but he says the chip is for launch control, 550 injectors , no gov, and 42psi level... will this work with my mods?? i dont wanna waste money if its not gonna work

another question ... i had heard that u can weld some bracket and make it EMPROM or is that not true...

So far only the 1g ECU is able to be converted, not the 2g ECU

I've been out of the game a little while, but I thought the plastic flashable ones were 98-99 ECU's... I guess I'll try to catch up on that.

It is only the 98/99 ECU

This isn't confusing. You either have a 95 EPROM ECU or you don't.

If you want to run a chip at all (ECMLink included) you need the 95 EPROM ECU.

Damn this is soo much more confusing than it sounded in the begining .... this is my serial number MD321911 its off a 96 talon i guess... what can be done...

OK - according to the ECM wiki your ECU is not an EPROM, so you would need to buy the other one anyway if you wanted to run ECMlink. Was your friend using the ECU on a 95-96 DSM or a 97-99 DSM?

i get what you guys are all saying its just this guy that does them swears he does them all the time! This is what he does for a living. Ima try it and if it does work ima post it up. Imean if worste comes to worste i know where the guy works and lives so i can always go back and make him give me my money back.

Oh and it is being used on a 95 talon tsi awd

FACTS PROVED
1. U do not have a eprom ecu IN ## car right now,
2. The raised fuel pressure in the chipe (## buying) will compensate for the injectors.

what are u still confused about?:p

The thing im confused about well not really confused more like in doubt that my ecu can be converted to be socketed to plug in and out chips and to be made eprom because that link clearly says it cant.... now the guy doing it says he is able to do it and in only one day he will have it back to me..

98 gsx this is what u need to do...
1. if u want to "tune" buy a 95 ecu socketed on ebay!!! not from this guy.. he is going to tear u a new one.. then buy v3 lite for now and call it a day. u will spend around 500 for all. more or less.

Now I'm really lost. I thought you were buying an EPROM ECU socketed and with a chip for $300? At any rate, if you end up with a socketed ECU with a chip programmed for 560cc injectors at 42 psi fuel pressure setup for a 95 DSM for the price of $300, it'll work great for your car. If thats the case, enjoy the stutter box setup and be sure to zero out your sAFC before you try to start it with that chip.

thats the thing 500 is a little high for my budget right now... ive got over 12000 on it already and i didnt plan on spending that much to begin.

what if i just leave my ecu stock.... can i still take my car to a dyno and get it tuned that way??

sorry i didnt explain myself completely... I had my car without a ecu.... so this guy said he would find me a used ecu, then socket it and eprom it and give me two chips... one wihich is programed for everything he said and the other to run it stock incase something messes up to not put that much pressure on it...

Ya its to late he paid the guy already. I don't think they can be converted like the guy said above only the 1gs have that abitilty. If that was the case I would've done it LOL. That chip will do what u want. End of case?

DSM!

Not quite. Eprom means it has an eprom chip. Socketed means the eprom chip has been pulled and a socket is soldered in its place so eprom chips can be easily swapped without having to unsolder and resolder the chips - just plugging and unplugging them in the socket.

ok exactly dats what this guy is gonna do to it. can it be done even if mine is a the MD321911 ecu from a 96??

Unfortunately no - there's nowhere to solder a socket on for the eprom chip. You can't socket a 2G ecu unless its an eprom ecu to begin with.

This was already covered...

Type proper English as well I especially hate when people write "dat", "dis", "iight", "da", etc.

to the OP....you can ONLY DO AN ECMLINK CHIP IN A 95 EPROM ECU! The NON EPROM ecus from 2g's CANNOT be converted.

Loosen up man. Der is no reason to get dat mad aiight.

Awwww what a bummer so basically what is this guy trying to do?? Its not like he is gonna get away with it if he is trying to rip me off. I know where he lives and works. Ima print this out and show him thanks to everyone for the help i appreciate it.

ps.... I spelled right this time for you this time Pennsylvania haha

-WOW this thread is way to confusing for how simple it is.. ?...

-If you have 12000 dollars invested in your car...... I have one thing to tell you.. BUY ECMLINK... no reason to pay that much money and not get the best..

-I paid 150 for my eprom unsocketed... they usually go for 200 unsocketed...

-Be careful with this guy because it sounds like he is trying to scam you because like you said you dont know much....

-You can NOT socket a non eprom ecu(yours)... thats only allowed in 1g's as far as I know.

-Make sure you visually check the eprom ecu he is giving you for damage.. anything leaking etc... hard telling where he is getting it from.

-The chips he is giving you will work ok until you get ecmlink... From there you can program anything you want and change it to anything you want... you will notice the difference!!

-GOOD LUCK

How confused you are on something so simple, are you sure you're ready to tune your car?

You either have an EPROM ECU or you don't (if it's a 95 it probably is, if not it is not). Take the cover off and look at it to see. If it is an EPROM ECU, it's either stock with the chip still on the board, or someone socketed it already. If it is socketed, get a chip for it. If not, get it socketed by someone who works on electronics and then get a chip. If you've got the chip already in the ECU, install the ECU and go (with a logger to watch stuff).

I dont get it... Im gonna ask you all for advice.. and when you give me the best possible advice I can possibly get... I gonna ignore it and do something I will regret in 2 days.

The guy DOESNT have to give you anything back, your money... a smile... the middle finger... NOTHING..

Do the smart thing... look in the classifieds here on DSMtuners... Look for a 2g EPROM ecu (socketed is a plus) you can normally find them cheap enough for anyone to afford... goto ECMTuning, Inc.... place order.

Thats the BEST money you can possibly spend on your DSM.... PERIOD.
