I have a 95 tsi awd with 560cc evo injectors, 20g turbo with external wastegate, safc, walbro 255, afpr, now some guy wants to sell me a eprom ecu socketed and chipped , but he says the chip is for launch control, 550 injectors , no gov, and 42psi level... will this work with my mods?? i dont wanna waste money if its not gonna work

Erm, Not sure about the whole "chipped" thing.

But basically you can pick up an Eprom ECU and set it up for DSMLink which would allow you to tune as you go with ease. Then again as this is on a 95, be sure to check your ECU as it's most likely an EPROM ECU to begin with.

How much is he asking for it as most likely the chip isn't going to work anyway. He is feeding you some crock anyway saying it's for 550cc injectors and 42 psi...ROFL I'd like to see that.

I'd buy for the EPROM alone and get ECMLink depending on the asking price and if it's truly an EPROM ECU

Basically the guy is selling me a eprom ecu with a socket i guess to plug in chips that are pre tuned. The chip he is giving me is for 550 injectors and i have 560s that is what worries me that that would not work with mine. Plus will the 560cc push a 20g evo turbo??

Yea i get what your saying man!! 550 at 42 psi but he says its 42 psi fuel level... and he is charging 300 for the ecu eprom and chip

Those chips are not the greatest tuning device. It is just a loose tune. Get the eprom and get link or dsmaps.

After im done rebuilding the engine im taking it to reeses tune shop anyways so will the eprom just be a waste of money??

The chips aren't worth anything if there not set for the correct items u have. And 560s is really low for a 20g I'm runing a 16g on stock injectors and I can feel a cut. Dsmlink and emprom is the way to go :) nothing else no stupid burnt chips.

Like someone said above u probaly have a emprom ecu so what he's chraging for the chip and ecu u can have for dsmlink for the same price I think 50 dollars. Mores. U can have a whole tuning and logging system instead of a chip set for the wrong stuff.

Only the 95 year can come with the EPROM ECU. He has a flashable ECU assuming it's the plastic one and wasn't swapped out. It's a different thing all together.

For ECMLink you need an EPROM ECU as ECMLink is a chip.

Bare with me Im pretty new to this whole DSM tunin.... .Yea i do have the 95 ecu.... but the chip is not just that i guess it comes with launch control and a bunch of other lil stuff too which i still have to look into...but if the chip dont work for me i can always take it off and leave it stock right and just put the DSMlink on it right?

Well now no.
If u want the chip and wanna waste 300$ go for it LOL.
Idk if u can even use it.... I think u need a EMPROM ECU which as of now we can determine u do not have. U also need a EMPROM to run ecmlink. Cause it is a chip in itself. Just a outragiously cool one :) LOL

I got lost there. How are we figuring that he doesn't have an eprom ECU?

It is a EPROM ECU.....now i gotta buy it cus i gave him 150 cash and he spent it .....:banghead: I have seen those ecmlink chips and i figure since mine is socketed for chips i can take my chip out and put that one instead ...or am i wrong:confused:

Compare this with the ECU you have if you are claiming it's a 95
epromid [ECMTuning - wiki]

Exactly like the one on the right.

Is the one he has (like the one on the right)
or urs, somewhere we got off track here LOL. well now ## the proud owner a a chipped ecu hope u like it :hmm:

another question ... i had heard that u can weld some bracket and make it EPROM or is that not true...
HAHA i have never heard of that one,
and u cant weld onto a greenboard u have to know how to solder i do that for a hobby and no ones ever asked me to solder a ecu.
NOT TRUE. someone correct me if im wrong.

If the chip he is selling is for slightly smaller injectors (550's vs 560's) but higher than factory fuel pressure, I think the differences from that and what you have will balance each other out enough that you could run it no problem. The only thing I would recommend checking out first is if the chip was setup for a 95-96 or if it was for a 97-99 because the CAS is inverted between those and so the firing order is reversed.

check right there on that link where it explains how to tell if your computer is EPROM or not.... in the begining there is a link that takes you and shows you how to convert it. Is that not the same??

someone said something about if he hasnt had it changed out he has the plastic flashable one.

I've been out of the game a little while, but I thought the plastic flashable ones were 98-99 ECU's... I guess I'll try to catch up on that.

That's for the 1G only.
