While Lucas' car continues to amaze, that's not what I got out of that timeslip. How about that .018 light? Far too many DSM racers don't put enough emphasis on leaving on time. I know how important it is, though. We call that a "bad job of red lighting".:sneaky:

thank you very much for noticing that :). I work hard as hell to cut a light. I do import bracket racing. I just took second place at a local track here in the import series. My worst light out 9 passes that day was a .052.

What about a cage..Does this car weigh 2250 with a cage? Now that would blow my mind even more..
I have no clue as the weight. Lucas would be one to chime in on that. it does have a roll bar in it.

ROFL What happend to the guy in the other lane!?

Congradulations on 9's!

It was a boosted honda hatch with a 35r. I think i left so fast his car couldnt handle the head winds from my sonic boooom !!! LOL. Accually, he was having issues all night with his car. Ran over cones and all kind of stuff. Poor kid.

You drove the car man shoudln't you have noticed a cage..LOL..

I just tried looking at nhra rules..And I couldn't figure out when you need a cage...You almost need alwyer to tell you what you need to know..
Edit i googled it..You only need a cage running 135mph or faster in a quarter..

:p, yes I know whats in the car LOL, the car has a roll bar. Not a cage. Its good till 10.00 and 135mph. After that a full cage, window net, shut off swith, full suit, yada yada.

This is what I found for 9,99 and quicker..

9.99 1/4-mile (6.39 1/8-mile)/ 135 mph or quicker:

-Roll cage is required on all vehicles at 9.99 and quicker or any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of a minimum o.d. mild steel or chrome moly tubing (moly can be a smaller o.d and is lighter but more expensive), see diagram below for specs. Roll cage must be padded anywhere the driver's helmet may contact it while in the driving position, see diagram below for specs. Roll cage must also be certified by NHRA every 3 years and have a serialized sticker affixed prior to participation. This style of cage is good til 8.50 1/4-mile times, then a funny car style cage is required.

Where I got it from "What do I need for.." Safety Requirements for NHRA (Rollbar, Rollcage, harness, etc) - LS1TECH

exaclty :thumb: ( hence, the im good till in my post) not only did i break the 1/4 mile rule, i appearntly broke the 1/8 mile rule too :)

I remember seeing this car at the shootout, very interesting to say the least, and a serious diet! Doesn't even have rear brakes.

I think he was right with the interesting part.

No doubt the car's fast, but to some people there's a limit with what parts come out of the car.

Wow, I wonder if the rules have changed. I remember my goal being to run faster thn 11.99 (this was 8 years ago or more) and to get booted for not having a cage. Hell ihave whole new goals if i have to trap 135+ or 9.99 or faster (damn, i won't need any safety stuff LOL, my racing just got cheaper LOL)

Yeah, my goals have been mid 11s for the last several years I was pretty sure it was 11.99 as well. I hope someone can verify it's now 9.99, that would be great!

Botoom of the first page is where the 9.99 or faster as well as trap apeed of 135 Came from....I'm not sure it's correct, if anyone can interperate the nhra rules straight from them that would be great..

I had to check, I called my buddy who has the 2011 NHRA Handbook. At 11.49 a 5 point roll bar (welded in or bolted in) is required and is good in a hardtop vehicle to 9.99.

Lucky guy, my local track is NHRA rules and a cage is required for 11.49 or faster.

Thank god someone got the right information..

A five point "roll bar" is required after 11.49. Which is what is in the english car. A cage is required after 9.99. Most tracks simply warn you to go slower then boot ya if you run to fast a second time. Some toss you after one run.

Its beyond gutted, still impressive but they went all out on the weight loss. Sometimes if you want records that's what you do. Obviously alot of people have more respect if its done with some semblance of a street car left but its still very impressive.

Its a straight drag car. In case you guys are unware. Its NOT in anyway a street car with oem and dmv thoughts in mind.

Yes....
RollBAR at 11.49
RollCAGE w/ certification at 9.99 OR 135mph

Meaning if you run 10.1 and 10.0's @ 130mph: you are ok with just a rollbar. If you go 10.0@136mph or crack off a 9.999; then you need to add In a roof halo, dashboard bars, and pass side door bar to upgrade from rollBAR to a CAGE.

9.99@135 Cages also must be Inspected by NHRA and certified they are correctly welded, designed, and of correct wall thickness & material. Chassis certification is an "make an appointment" deal w/ the track and they might spend serious time checking out the cage before affixing the certification tags which I think are good for a couple years. RollCage is often 8 or 10pt of attachment to the unibody.

RollBars are simply checked by the normal tech guys if they feel like it for fitment during normal tech inspection. Usually rollbar is a 5pt or 6pt arrangement: main hoop, 2 rear bars goths hatch, and a drivers door bar. Often a pass door bar is put in, but not required.

not lucky at all. The track i go to follows the NHRA rules. The car i drive is legal for 9.99 and 135. It has a cage. I went 9.95 once and got the waring.

Thank you for the kind words. All the work is lucas. the driving was me. :). Less weight = faster times. The car is a straight track rat with all the proper safty gear. All i can say it is what it is. the hta68 will only push any car so far LOL.

Still E-85 with no methanol? Is this IC or the none IC setup? Amazing feat to get such a little turbine to go so fast and stay efficient!! Talk about power to weight ratio! Stock auto converter is amazing also!

It has a 2.3 and ETS FMIC that is had for since 09. The hot pipe setup went away awhile ago :)

The car weighs 2350 with NO Driver and the 6 point. We dont have a 10 point in the car because it was never built to go 9.99 or 135.

Billy is light so I would presume the total vehicle weight with driver is around 2500 or so.

This makes me giggle. I love watching people trying so hard to get in the 10's with a turbo that flows over 60 lbs/min. Here this little HTA68 is doing it. You should send one to Kevin Jewer seeing as he just ran a low 10 on a normal 16g with his RWD setup.
