hey guys, need some help/advice with an engine rebuild, currently i have a EvoIII RS with a stock engine, after stripping down the entire thing i found crankwalk(2g 7bolt) so i decided to go with an eagle 2.3L stroker kit(eagle crank, rods & arias pistons). So everything is going to be brand new in the engine...now where i need the advice is that i am going to do a complete head rebuild also (valves(ferrea),springs(beehive ferrea),guides(bronzeferrea),lifters(3mm),rollers,cams(264 & 272),cam gears(aem), so my real question is should i go 1mm oversized on the valves or not & why??

Oversized calves can last longer than stock ones they have under cut stems and allow more air to flow into the chamber. Alo ther lighy wich is going to help in the valve train, think the lighter the valve they are less likely to float.

Kiggly lost power when he went to a 1mm oversized valve in his drag car. It is honestly not needed to do. Stock sized stainless steel valves from this guy is the ticket

That isn't exactly true. I ran 2 different heads last season and one had 36mm intake valves; the other had 34mm intake valves. Both had stock exhaust valves. The head with 36mm valves was slightly bigger ports and it seems like it made a little less power. It was a higher flowing head, but didn't really pay off on the track and limited my cam timing worse due to intake to exhaust valve clearance during overlap. I may retest the bigger valve head next season now that I'm revving higher. This was with a 9000rpm shift point on the 2.3l and now it seems like going closer to 9500rpm.

For the general public, upsizing the valves really is a waste unless it saves a cylinder head. Use EVO8 exhaust OEM exhaust valves, they are the lightest out there and very durable.
