i have a 91 eagle talon Tsi AWD turbo just bought it and the motor was definately abused before i bought it, got it going fast on the freeway and i thought it governed and was just shutting down but it turns out i either blew the oil pan clean off on one side or blew some sort of high pressure line somewhere not entirely sure and i really don't care because the motor that's in it won't survive anything else i'm sure of that, but i have a newer motor in a parts car that came with my talon and i'm going to get started on my very first rebuild, i want it to be around 500 to 600 hp maybe more, but i need a list of parts i need to make myself a fully built motor with intercooler and aftermarket high psi turbo, internals, BOV, wastegate, good looking parts if posible, stuff like that, i've gone through and kinda put together a rough list things i thought i might need but i seriously don't think i know what i'm doing, i would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what all i need and might want, the brand and specs of the parts and where i might be able to find it all. price is not an issue here i have virtually unlimited funds for this project at the moment i just want a lot of power that will be reliable and can handle a pretty good beating without dying on me. the motor is the 4G63T and as far as i know everything in it and on it is bone stock i don't know a lot yet but i am learning and i'm not completely automotive illiterate. thank you very much for helping, if you need any kind of info or specs feel free to ask

If you build the engine with OEM parts it will be cheap, reliable, and fairly quick if you do a good job. Check out the vedors on this site for the parts. Also, check out the upgrade paths, they'll help you out if you want to modify it in the process.

Oh. And there are a few who have put out over 500hp on a stock bottom end.

But seriously, it'll take you a while to get there, and a lot of money.

Did u look under the car to see if the oil pan blew off as you say. And if you want 500+ hp, you gotta do forged internals and better bigger turbo, and that's if everything else is on par as well

I definitely recommend that you your self do not attempt to build a high HP engine if not any if you say you don't know what your doing, changing a tire and building a race car are 2 very different things you should be more specific with your post like how much money is unlimited because if you have that much to spend have the world done by a professional.

ok by unlimited i mean i have over 50G layin around and i don't just want to buy a new car, building street racing cars is what i wanna do for a living and i want to start by dropping a lot of my money into my AWD tsi talon because i love this car and i love dsm's i am not completely automotive illiterate i have rebuilt an engine before it was in an auto class i took, we tore down and rebuilt a 454 big block chevy engine with a 4 person team, i have a few people to help me with this but i need a list of parts that i need, i know i need crank shaft, cams, cam gears, timing belt, valves, valve springs, lifters, main bearings, pistons, rods, valve seats, valve guides, turbo kit including new high psi turbo and a good looking intake with front mount intercooler, i just don't know what specs i need to look at, and i'm not sure if i need all of that plus more or if i don't even need that i also know i need to look at stroke, bore, compression, and how much psi the motor can handle without blowing up like mine did, i also know the higher the psi the lower the compression needs to be and in this case i think i need 7.5 to 1 or 8 to 1 in order to achieve 600 awhp. the list i put together to begin with came about to be about 9K but that was with a lot of other parts too such as fuel pump, injectors, fuel rail, clutch, oil pump, essentials i know i need in order to support that much power

:sneaky: wanna throw some of that this way and help a fellow dsmer out? hahaha...

In reality, you seem to have a decent understanding of the automotive side of stuff and what it will take to get to where you are going. I would suggest checking out the members section and look for cars making the range that you are interested in and check out what mods they have and start from there.

Hey dude a good place to start is with Magnus motorsports up here in the great north ...if you have a 50k budget u can buy a crate motor from then for about $12,500 then all u have to do is figure out the turbo ,intercooler ,fuel system,Transmision etc, etc and im sure they can help u with all your engine building needs :D :thumb: good luck dude and happy boosting

If you have $50,000 laying around why the hell are you dicking around with DSMs?

But seriously, check out peoples setups and you'll get an idea of what to look for and what you will need to achieve your goal. Additionally, check out the upgrade paths.

And finally, search. Don't just ask for people to tell you what to do. Search, think about it, make an educated decision, then ask peoples opinion and see what they think.

haha yeah 50G's is quite a bit but then again military bonuses are very very nice and most of the time big :thumb: i also found the problem with my car... :banghead::mad::hmm:WTF i blew the entire head gasket clean of the block except in a couple places, for some reason i never even took that possibilty into consideration until i took it to my friends garage and actually looked at it, hmm no oil pressure? there's my shitty running problem, no head gasket present? theres where i'm dumping oil from, and i know it won't handle much more because i have deposits of oil in my intake and that is most likely caused by blow by so i know my oil rings are almost toasted, haha, we got it all taken apart yesterday in about 4 and a half hours, and now i'm just waiting for head gasket set and new head bolts.

i am however wondering what dumbass (excuse my rudeness :tease:) put my car together before i bought it because the whole thing is a complete mess, the 9 bolts holding my exhaust manifold on where ALL different, and by different i mean different size and different measurement some SAE and some metric ??? WTF not to mention most of my intake piping is made of coolant piping like main hose off of radiators and shit, not sure if it makes much of a difference but i do know there is no way i'm getting proper CFM through it, and it probly has leaks all over. here is a couple question out of curiousity, one should i put copper spark plugs in my car instead of iridium or something that burns hot? i was told copper burns at just the right tempurature to avoid common spark plug problems, i pulled out the plugs and one of them had the electrode burnt down about half way which was my cutout/misfire problem, and i think that's cus they are all burning way too hot. another question i have, i need to know how much certain bolts need to be torqued down, especially the head bolts but i can't find where to get the info, anyone know where i can find it? :hmm:

haha i love DSM's they have their problems but they are amazing just something about them

As far as spark plugs NGK BPR6ES or BPR7ES. Those are the only spark plugs that should be used. I bought a DSM field service manual FSM on ebay for like $3 or $4, but theres a link on here somewhere for you to download a free one. I'll see if I can find it.....

Wymoing been there, nice but its hard to read the threads its one run on sentence i think as you read here you will find out more about what you want. And look at others mods and modifications.

I would never pay 13 grand for just a motor.
