What does stage 1 or 2 rebuild mean???? A stock setup can handle 450 whp tuned correctly, this isn't fast and furious.

Well if you want a stage 1 or 2 kit then you need to buy it off Need for Speed Underground.

Just rebuild using the stock internals, they are nearly bulletproof. It will be cheaper and will probably hold all the power you will make with no problem. Of course this is assuming you are not attempting to build some sweet fire breathing dragon.

what are your goals? how much HP do you want to make? do you want room to "grow" ?

The NPR rebuild kits on ebay will work fine as far as components go. As far as what all you'll need to rebuild your engine... A fully staffed machine shop. You will have to send your block out to have it hot tanked, magnafluxed (checks for cracks), and machined. By machined, I mean having the cyl bores checked for roundness, bored out in .5mm increments. They'll also need your crank to check for scoring on the journals and possibly machine that on a metal lathe or at a minimum, polish it. The rest of the rebuild you can do yourself but you'll need a good set of eyes, hands, tools, and the ability to read. You need a good service/repair book along with some additional materials that they will specify to check clearances.

Honestly, if you're asking about a stage 2 rebuild kit, you may not be mechanically inclined enough to do it and might just want to buy a pre-assembled long block from one of the many vendors that support this site.

Don't mean to butt into the thread but I am starting a rebuild and im going all out. But if you have a smaller budget I would go with stock internals and stud the head that way you can upgrade the fuel system and push around 16-20 psi. That would be plenty for you to destroy your friendS and anyone else without a major rebuild.

the stage 1 and 2 things wwere from the slowboy stroker kits, ya know rods piston etc. I'm just nw to the engine rebuild thing so i just wanted opinions. My car is a DD but i really want to build a good base to build around. There's no machine shops real close to me. I'm shootin for like 400-450 HP maybe more once i'm done, but that'll be a few years.

decided i'm goin with the stock rebuild. got a guy in a place called st. leon who works on nothin but imports so just got to take the loan out and be on my way!!

Tell him to install a BSEK and if you want get a forward facing OFH and some N/T parts like a T-stat, water pipe, TB.

He means a balance shaft elimination kit. It gets rid of the balance shafts and balance shaft belts. ofh = oil filter housing

I think you should read alot! There is so much information on here. Do alot of reading and poking around in your car. Asking questions is good but make sure you read up some first on frequently asked questions and the newbie forum. I still go back and reread posts in there so I'm not trying to be rude.

its fine man. I just go to school and work two jobs and i'm getting ready to graduate so i haven't had much time. thanks for the help though guys.

where can i find the parts? or will the shop just ask what i want and order them? sorry about the questions

NOOO!:notgood:
ebay rebuild kits will only make you waste twice the money.
i dont know if youve heard this quote but; "Dont half-ass anything, or youll end up wasting more"
If your gonna wanna make 400+ your deff gonna have to upgrade most of what lies on your bay.
Tip of Advice: Get to know these site; RRE.com, JNZtuning.com, and mitsparts.com

The NPR rebuild kits contain the same quality pistons and ring as came rolling off the factory doors in Normal, IL and those parts have been taken to over 400whp many, many times. It doesn't have to come with a sticker to mean it's a good part.

well i want to keep the engine stock, so basically do a stock rebuild with possibly a few changes. the is my dd, but i want to be be around 320whp eventually. Wats a god place to start looking and some good mods?
