So I finished up the manual and awd swap on my Spyder but am having this odd issue.

When I put it into first I'll have to rev the engine somewhat high for it to grab and actually move, I'll release the clutch all the way and it'll act like it's bogging then after a bit it'll actually grab and take off. I've tried this in second gear and it does the same thing. Here's the odd part, in reverse it grabs perfectly and goes with no issue's whatsoever. I've heard it could be my flywheel (didn't check step height) or my front differential.

Anyone have an opinion on this? I'm finally settled into our new house and over this nasty cold so I can actually start getting to work on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would pull the trans and get the step height checked to make sure it's right for the clutch you put in. Be it OEM or aftermarket.

My guess is it's slipping until the clutch disk expands/etc. Reason it might work for reverse, is reverse is a higher ratio, which in turn means it takes less input torque to move the car.

I have a lightweight flywheel installed "Fidanza" with a new center section, i've heard that those don't need the step height messed with but I'm not positive on it, Have an opinion? I figure it's going to come down to pulling the transmission again which I'm not worried about just trying to narrow it down as much as I can.

Checked the flywheel, checked the clutch tob pivot ball etc everything looked fine same issue. Switched out my shifter assembly and cables, same issue. Could a bad transfer case cause this? I've never been able to get into fifth gear not sure if that's related but I now feel like I can get into 1-4 and reverse. Please any help would be appreciated I would like to get this issue figured out so I can start on body work and paint.

I took it to a local dsm transmission specialist. I've never ripped one apart and I wanted it done right. I ended up getting it upgraded while it was there and am planning on putting it back in tomorrow and hopefully driving the spyder around for the first time :) I have carnage pictures in my build thread.
