i drove my car in the snow for the first time last night. damn i dont know if i like AWD or not i couldnt do doughnuts cuz it hooked to damn well ;) But after about an hour and half of driving and racing jeeps and trucks in a 1/4 mile blast(i won everytime somehow and they had air lockers front and rear) the turbo wouldnt build boost anymore if i was spinning on the snow. I went on what pavment i could find and it would build boost. I am assuming that spinning in the snow isnt enough load to make it spool??? but it was spooling all the time for the first 1.5 hours. then my radar detector starts going off saying low voltage. this alt is about 3 weeks old and is the high amp one. I got this one when the one before it was about 2 months old died. and the one before that was fine till i put in this new ECU....3 alts in like 4 months???? :| the belt is still on and all the connectors are tight. the voltage jumps up when i rev so i know it is seeing some charge but its only charging at 10.8 and when the night started it was 14.2-13.9. is there a chance its the ECU eating them up or am i just unlucky with the f********* alts?

I dont think an ECU would cause ur prob. Check the tension on the belt but besides that, IDK. :talon:

bad cell int eh batery, dying alternator, or loose belt

other than that, there really isnt much that owuld cause it other that wiring having a dead short somewhere or something of that mature

the belt is fine the battery is also new i replaced it with the last alt. the wiring is fine the alts seem to last about 500 miles each then die ever since the ecu swap

i've seen belts that didn't squeek but did slip, an easy test to check for slipping is to let the car idle and then shut it off and feel the pullies, if one or all of them are hot its slipping, this can be from a bad belt or sometimes also bad bearings in whatever is getting hot.

I dealt with an alternator problem for 2 weeks and it turned out to be a belt that wasn't screeching but was slipping

id say check the pins in the ECU pins..make they are al seated good, check the connections on the alternator, make sure they are seated good....reseat all teh connections...make sure your not getting a dead short somewhere for some ungoldy reason..that will drain the battery, also replace the alternator belt for shits nad giggles...nver know it might fix it
