Bad Ecu Luck

I bought a '90 eprom off a private seller on ebay. He said it was out off a running car, so I bought it. When I got it I pulled the cover off, board looked really clean. It didn't look like the caps were leaking or anything. Then I got it swap it in my car, It takes awhile to start up, Then I notice a funny smell and a really high idle. So i brought it to operating temp. to see if it would drop. It stayed at about 1100. Then I turned the car off and turned it back on, car idled at about 400-500 and sounded like I had some mean cams in there. So i tried messing with the BISS and it changed nothing. Then the car just shut off, I went to go turn it back on. The ecu started smoking hardcore, totally ruined the board. So I put my stock ecu in and it works great.

The seller though claims it was a problem with the install and yadda yadda yadda, so i belive im out some money.

But...you live you learn

Sucks, cause there's nothing you can do about it. Unless you just off it on someone else, in which case you are a rat .

thats a shit load of bad luck 90 eproms are extremely hard to find
