The tranny type does not matter but being GST or GSX does matter.

I bought one for my 2g GST and fitment was great. What was not so great was the neckdown and the fact that almost if not all eBay downpipes delete the cat. The one shown deletes it and fits only a GSX.

Is it just me or does it look like it necks down from where the flange bolts to the O2 housing as well?? WTF
All downpipes must start out at 2.5" at the o2 housing....that's what size the flange is on the o2 housing itself. Some exhaust manufacturers will run 3" all the way to the o2 flange, but it has to be seriously deformed or you'll never get the nuts on.

Just get the neckdown cut out and a 3'' pipe welded in place. ebay exhaust will work just fine

Right, I did the same with the Thermal R&D exhaust on my FWD which was flanged to fit the stock cat when I purchased it.

My point was that I was unsure why anyone would buy a 3" downpipe just to have it neck down to stock again at the converter.

I bought an ebay downpipe, and everything worked fine. Take into note that I did buy a highflow cat and they had to weld a flange onto the highflow cat to match the downpipe. So in my case it wasnt exactly cheap but I planned on getting the highflow either way. It is just piping, I dont see how an Apexi downpipe compared to an ebay one could be any better.

In my case, the downpipe i bought only necked down at the o2 housing, but the flange for the cat or test pipe needed to be cut and rewelded to match bolt holes. Also the welds of the flange are kind of shaby.

Thank you guys for all the postings! This website is great! Okay, so I'm thinking of getting the pipe below because its for FWD and the one above was for AWD. Lastly, what should i do about the exhaust? Do i weld this peice to my OEM 2.5 exhaust? or should I buy a new exhaust that already has the 3" opening? I'm running a 16g.

Also, how important is it to upgrade your downpipe when running a 16G? I have a pretty major boost leak and i was told this was the culprit. So far I've upgraded the Jpipe (dejon), lower IC pipes (dejon) 1G BOV, Exhaust manifold and Mishimoto radiator. but my car still has a major boast leak.

What you should to is run a boost leak test to make sure where it is coming from, until you have done that yourself dont listen to what anyone else has to say unless they did a boost leak test. If you plan on getting a downpipe its a good idea to go ahead and do your full exhaust if you have the money. 3in catback would do great. Also depending on where you live try to get rid of your stock cat with either a test pipe of highflow cat.

no offense man but in all honesty i wouldnt run any type of ebay car parts on my dsm. last thing you wanna skimp out on is parts for your dsm given the issues that they tend to go through parts faster then any other car i know of. with that being said i personally think ebay parts are in fact crap. but thats my opinion.

Just because it's on ebay it's automatically crap?

I've gotten some shitty things on ebay, but I've also gotten some really nice stuff.

As far as I know, people are pretty damn happy with the megan racing (ebay) exhaust systems.

Many of them are made to delete the cat. When I bought one, I asked 2 different times if it would delete the cat. They said no, but when it came, it did. The flange also wouldn't line up with the stock cat back.

Just make sure you ask the seller and get the details.

Alright, I just bought a boost leak tester from Boostpro.net : Specializing in performance I know I could've made my own, but 20 bucks is a pretty sweet deal. Now... Do i also need to rent or buy an air compressor?? or is that not needed. i'm trying to read up on it, but most sites just assume its basic knowledge and for me, its not LOL

You'll need an air compressor OR you can buy just a tank and fill it up at the gas station.

FWIW I have a BBP downpipe from ebay on my car. I had to oval one of the holes on the o2 flange but I am otherwise very happy with it. It does have a neck down where it meets my catback but it is minimal. When I put it on with my stock exhaust I had to place the gasket very carefully in order to get it to seal because it does not neck down nearly to the original exhaust size.

I don't know why anyone would do it either, seems kind of pointless. Maybe if they were buying their exhaust system is pieces it would make sense.

It's a pipe, not a very complex device. I had a authentic Apex'i turboback, and replaced it with an ebay turboback. When I took off the Apex'i i lined it up next to the ebay and they were identical; bends, muffler placement, etc were all the same except the apex'i wasn't stainless and the ebay was. Also, the welds looked better on the ebay exhaust...to each his own i guess

If you are going to cut and weld, you'll end up spending a lot more than the price shown on E-bay if you'll have the welding done by somebody else. You can get a Megan Racing DP for about $140 and it fits right out of the box and it is polished SS. In my opinion, and even if you weld it yourself, it is not worth the hassle for such a small difference in price.

Thank you everyone for your postings! they've been extremely helpful. I just ordered a Megan Downpipe and a Megan NS1 exhaust from ebay. I'll let you all know just how functional these parts are very soon. LASTLY, what should I buy for the boost test?? Some people are saying use a bike pump, some say use an air compressor, others say use an air tank and fill it at a gas station. What is the cheapest for the most efficient? I dont plan on running a shop so nothing 200+
