Ebay Down Pipes

I need to replace my downpipe. Does anyone know if these ebay downpipes are good deals, or rip offs? All it is, is a 3inch stainless tube. I'm unsure why the name brands like Apex are 4 times more expensive. Also, does it matter if my car is automatic, stick, or GST? Please advise

Get an air compressor, you'll need it for air tools anyways. Every garage needs an air compressor.

Thank you everyone for your postings! they've been extremely helpful. I just ordered a Megan Downpipe and a Megan NS1 exhaust from ebay. I'll let you all know just how functional these parts are very soon. LASTLY, what should I buy for the boost test?? Some people are saying use a bike pump, some say use an air compressor, others say use an air tank and fill it at a gas station. What is the cheapest for the most efficient? I dont plan on running a shop so nothing 200+

That exhaust is only a muffler. You need a complete catback exhaust system.

That's exactly what you'll need. Make sure to get a 2 bolt gasket to connect them. One for the O2 housing to downpipe and one to connect the downpipe to the catback.

That one may work but it has what I consider to be a lower quality hanger setup. I've never used that hanger setup so it may be alright but there are other options out there, and it DOES NOT include a downpipe. That piece that looks like a downpipe is actually the part that goes just after the downpipe. The hook on it goes toward the drivers side in the back and hooks up to the curved piece which hangs over the axle.

This is the most recommended ebay exhaust out there afaik and yes it is a bit more expensive. Many others will work but this one has consistently been fairly high quality.

The only thing about this one is that I've never understood where that 3bolt flange bolts to because I don't see it anywhere else on their exhaust system and it doesn't bolt to the downpipe. Hopefully someone who has this system can chime in.

ive got a megan/ebay special downpipe laying around the shop. Its actually pretty nice, and for the 80 bucks you cant beat it.

mandrel bends, stainless flex section, thermal coated and polished. Even if it fit like crap it would be worth its price just for the parts to cut up and make fit right.

Which is exactly what i did, since i have an evo3 housing the downpipe wouldnt fit well..just cut it apart, lined it back up and rewelded. added a qtec while i was at it. Titties
