I know everyone claims most ebay parts are bad. but when it comes to breaks would could possibly be the issue?

for instance Brake Kit. Im not saying im getting this exact kit but i mean it seems like a good deal for a person on a budget, like i am at the moment .

any input would be great

Your brakes is not somewhere where you want to buy shit parts. It is really common for those cheap rotors to crack. Cheap brake pads will wear out fast and dust like crazy.

Eh. I dont see a need for drilled and slotted rotors but I bought some blank front and rear ones off ebay about 2 years ago with no complaints. The problem with those drilled ones are they are actually drilled. ROFL

Cheap materials is the reason for the cheap price. If you want some drilled and slotted rotors go with an actual name brand. If you are not going to be auto crossing which needs constant brake use then go with either Powerslot rotors or OEM blanks.

I have a review on dsmtalk for ebay brakes and rotors. I have a set from Brake Labs, drilled/slotted rotors and brake pads. Have about 20k daily driven miles on them, and they are still performing great. Any/all rotors will rust in time. Mine lasted about 15k before they started to rust over night, but again that is normal. It wears off anyways after some breaking. I recommend brake labs brakes on ebay, but can't say for the others.

I'm not convinced...1 out 100 people have great luck with eBay turbos...doesn't mean much. The set I got for my GST from Brake Labs was complete garbage and vibrated, properly bled system and non-seized calipers. Either they came warped or warped quickly because they had plenty of warp according to the dial indicator.

Ebay items are hit or miss. Everything that I purchased off ebay I have had great experiences with. Can't say that everything is good, but again its a hit or miss. Grant it, even legit companies have bad apples. I can only recommend ebay product's that I have tried and have had great success with. But for the price, most of the time it is worth the try. Yes they are not made of the same quality as name brands, BUT that is where the cheap price comes into play. I have quite a bit of ebay products on my car, in which work perfectly, and continue to do so to this day.

Have had some fleabay D/S rotors that came with "ceramic" pads on my car for about 35K. Price was $290 for all 4 corners pads included at my door. As said above I get the occasional overnight dusting of rusting, but I stand by them that I feel like I've gotten more out of that $290 than anywhere else on the car. Performed great since day 1, still doing so, and have plenty of pad left.

I bought a complet set of cross drilled and sloted rotors from ebay for $100, that was 3 1/2 years ago and the rotors still look and break great! altho I did buy the ceramic pads at autozone.

I say buy the rotors on ebay and pick up the pads locally

i run ebay pads and d/s rotors on my vr4 and they work great very little dust and do rust after 10k miles but nothing that doesnt go away after 5 min cruise :)

It really amazes me to see the pure hatred for anything that comes from ebay.. Knock on wood, I've never had a problem with any of my ebay bought parts, and I buy lots from there.. You just have to know what you can get away with being cheap on, and if you are gonna buy something cheap, do your research first, and base it on actual users of that particular product, not ebay haters that are mad because they paid more for IC piping than your whole front mount kit that works great.

Do the research, ask the company, see whats going on, you go to any car forum besides the ones where the real gearheads are at you're gonna get flamed like crazy for even mentioning ebay parts. I swear most of the people with this response are 16 year old pro bench racers that have no real world experience in anything performance, let alone knockoff parts.

I'm willing to bet these are the same rotors that the parts store will sell you, only whatever company bought in bulk and had them drilled and slotted and maybe zinc coated.

If all you use is eBay parts, you will never know how truly bad they suck and all the performance you are losing from them.

Good grief.. Did you even read my post? I don't only use ebay parts, what I was saying is that I do buy ebay parts all the time, that doesn't mean my whole car is ebay, it simply means I do USE ebay parts, but I also buy/sell vehicles so that's where the volume comes from. I clearly stated that you can't use all of it, you have to be careful and choose what you cheap out on.

And even if I bought every single piece from there, I wouldn't ever know how much I was losing because I wouldn't be losing anything in terms of horsepower, just 'street cred' for not having G Reddy parts. That's because I test my cars, they see track and dyno time, so if I was losing anything I'd see it immediately. How can you assume I'm that dumb?

So if you only buy eBay brakes and rotors, you will never know how crappy they are. Same thing.

It's probably just coincidence that some of the top DSMers aren't using any China crap.

I read your post, and it's just another ordinary defense of eBay junk that some poor newb is going to read and think they should cheap out as well. The only problem here, is you thinking you can come into a post about eBay brake kits and then say running some stuff off eBay is okay, and then in the same breath say you weren't recommending eBay brake kits.

This wasn't a "ebay parts" thread, so if your post isn't related to brakes, you can leave now.
