Was wondering what everyones thought's were on big brake kits. Which ones do you prefer: brembo, rotora, stoptech, custom made, etc... and why. me, personally, i have been trying to decide between brembo gran turismo set or stoptech. and yes i realize this should be in the handling forums, but i cant post in there yet!:p

I was going to do the simple GSX big brake upgrade on my GST but due to running a 13" rim for this next season that idea is out the window since the stock smaller rotor single piston caliper barely clears. I kept the stock size but added powerslot rotors and porterfield R4S compound pads and stainless lines. What a difference that made. A good friend went the AEM big brake route and added the porterfield R4S pads to those. Now when he stops in a hurry you swear you need to pick your teeth off the dash. To bad they are 2.5" bigger than my factory since they would not even clear the 15" rims and 23" slicks I have been using the last 2 seasons. The nice thing about the AEMs is that they use the stock rotor to keep pricing down. But if your down with spending the big buck the Brembos are the ones I would go with.

I would go with the Brembo brake kit they are probably about as good as you can get i really like there kit.

I was checking into the 4-pistion brake system myself, and I've hard a lot of good stuff about Brembo. Once I can get the money to afford them, I will defently get those. I have been reading about thier products and then seem to be very reliable and have great support behind the products. :thumb:

What do you think Porshe and Ferrari's and all of those cars come with from the factory? Brembo. They make awesome stuff, its just really expensive.

Jeez we are driving a 3,000 LB car. 6 pistons=$3K thats a bit much. The only way any of us should need that is if we are running low 8's or 7's heck even lower.

I would deffinitly go with the brembo big brake kit i have heard great things about them. You should deffinitly stay away from ebay when ordering anything for brakes. Everyone I have heard of ordering brake parts off ebay has gotten nockoff brands of the parts they were bidding on.

If you have the $$ go for it.

It's more of brake fade than stopping distance that these things are good for. More friction surface equals better stopping distance, and if you have more pistons, clamping power. The bigger surface also helps dissipate heat which causes less braking power.

I always believe that you cannot have enough braking power. We love adding HP to stock cars and forget what it needs to stop that momentum generated from higher engine power. As much as the GSX 2 piston are adequate, they are not stellar.

I love the Rotora brake system myself.

yeah, i will be going with brembo, only cause my uncle works for them LOL otherwise i;d just get the AEM brake kit.:dsm:

There is also the 3000gt big break up-grade if you are on a budget. Search for it, there is some info on this subject in the forums.
