I know everyone claims most ebay parts are bad. but when it comes to breaks would could possibly be the issue?

for instance Brake Kit. Im not saying im getting this exact kit but i mean it seems like a good deal for a person on a budget, like i am at the moment .

any input would be great

I broke a set of ebay rotor on my daily driver. I dont beat it or drive it hard its a ford escape.

here is a pic of what happened. the top hat separated from the rotor.

Unfortunately they were on the car when I bought it. the broke like 3 weeks later. the other side was cracked along 3/4 of its top hat when this one broke.

I wouldn't advise getting brakes off of ebay...

A few years back, a buddy of mine tried a set of drilled and slotted rotors from ebay on his civic. He was driving his girlfriend around at the time when one of his rotors cracked going around a turn in the rain, he ended up losing control and slamming head-on into oncoming traffic. Everyone was ok, but both cars were totaled.

I NEVER advocated ebay brakes, rotors, or pads. I simply told him not to let the general hatred for ebay make the decision, i told him to do the research and find out THE TRUTH, that's all. I've seen people pay ridiculous amounts of money for parts when they could have bought the same darn thing for 30% cheaper.. Its just plain stupid, the way it used to be, the DSM community did things as economically as they could while still retaining decent reliability. 80% of my ebay purchases are name brand parts, the only real non name brand thing I have is my front mount kit. Got a bolt on 1g piping set for $100 shipped, and bought a cheap intercooler for $100 shipped thats 28x8x3, and its all nice stuff. Got tons of people that make all sorts of power on these knockoff FMIC setups too, so you can't tell me its junk.

If you wanna argue for the sake of arguing, whatever, but please don't put words in my mouth and tell me what I'm saying, or what I mean just because you can't comprehend my point or intentions of my posts. It's just plain rude, and then you tell me I can leave, cause you're a supporter I suppose? Come on, are you serious, telling me I can leave a forum that I've been a member of for longer than even you. We lose a lot of good members because of stuff like this.

I have a review on dsmtalk for ebay brakes and rotors. I have a set from Brake Labs, drilled/slotted rotors and brake pads. Have about 20k daily driven miles on them, and they are still performing great. Any/all rotors will rust in time. Mine lasted about 15k before they started to rust over night, but again that is normal. It wears off anyways after some breaking. I recommend brake labs brakes on ebay, but can't say for the others.

i always meant to write a review for brakelab brakes..but just never found the time to. When I had my GST, i bought a set of drilled/slotted as well. I sold the car but had them on my daily driven GST for around 6k. holy jebus do they grab. if i were to recommend ANY ebay brakes, it's these.

If you are not going to be auto crossing which needs constant brake use then go with either Powerslot rotors or OEM blanks.

granted, I'm eating my own words when I say 'don't get drilled rotors', but reason being is for the reduction of the surface area used for braking. i only got them cause they look cool :thumb: but they dont seem to effect performance DRASTICALLY. better than rusty stock rotors

yaaaa...I would say DO NOT buy them...I used to have an 04 Lancer Ralliart and bought 4 drilled/slotted rotors off ebay. Not trying to get the "cheap" ones, i spent 450 not including shipping and they were worse than the stock rotors.
