E85/16g/Emanage/1000cc injectors running awesome

What is their fuel setup like? This is a very interesting idea. I haven't seen any e85 in the San Francisco area, but definitely willing to look into it. Our car runs ERC 120 octane at $12/gallon. 45 psi, 1600cc, dual 255hp. How do you go about upgrading the injectors for this setup? Secondary injectors?

I think they are running either dual walbros or a bosch pump of some sort. I know they are running dsmlink and 1600cc injectors with a maf-t setup. T67 turbos at 30+ psi and lots of timing. They did say they have some trouble dialing in the injectors with dsmlink.

DSM Link tends not to like 1600's. I am running a GT40 at 45psi and with 1600's im close to 78% duty cycle. Does that mean they are running close to 100% duty cycle?

I'm in the process of getting my fuel system ready for E85 too. I put in -6 AN line from the 255hp in tank to the rail, but I'm not sure that will be enough now. How close are you to maxxing out the 255? I'm debating splicing in an inline 255 while its apart

What about using a rewired Denso 260lph fuel pump from the Supra, i remember seeing flow charts from it and it was a good deal more fuel than the Wally 255lph.... Not a stretch of a difference but maybe it will carry us a little further with E85 for those not planning to run more than 500hp i suppose.

Yes they are having issues getting the 1600's setup right with dsmlink, I think they want to all upgrade to AEM. I will ask them next time I see him what there IDC's are. Here is his website, ive known him for years and he was building these things way before I met him. www.jackstransmissions.com

Madders what turbo you are going to run. I'm guessing at 26psi my brothers 255lph has to be close to the edge on e85. But how would we measure if the fuel pump is maxxing? It cant hurt to run another fuel pump and its not too expensive.

Ohh yea we did get his talon back on the road, had a loose wire on the ecu because of the greddy emanage wiring so it has spark now. 26psi and 30* advance timing on e85 is awesome. I didnt even know the 16g could perform like that. Spool is instant and all the power hits at once. Likes to break the tires loose. He has to be close to the 400whp mark.

I suppose the car will start leaning out when the fuel pump is maxxing and you'll have either knock on your logs if it leans too much, or you'll notice that the air fuel ratio keeps getting leaner as the rpms climb.

That much boost and timing daily on a 16g sounds dangerous, :thumb:
Cant get too crazy LOL. At only 21lbs and 17degs timing adv on my evo3 set up ive already had a situation were i floored it in 3rd at about 45mph around a winding road on a back road and the rear end came loose drifted around me and I spun out. On a corner that im used to taking fast, but i increased my hp and now i cant. Cant imagen keeping my handling prowness w/ this car with that much insta-torque LOL. The 16g kicks hard and dishes out a lot of power in a very short window of time, id love to feel what your brothers car is like on the street.:rocks:

I will see if I can get him to load up one of his logs. He did say it had a two spots where the logger read 1 count of knock. Its been real snowy and he told me he was out having fun with it. He said donuts are a lot easier. LOL

Our mechanic was so impressed he said he wanted to build a DD 16g car over a 50trim because he likes how fast the turbo spools it almost makes the same power.

Awesome, so its doing 26psi on an evo16G? I think I'll be just fine then with a Big T28 Killer and 23psi. God that thing is going to spool off idle or something :sneaky:

Boost hits 26psi and slowly creeps to about 22psi and holds. He has an custom built adjustable actuator with a larger spring that we hope can hold the boost better if we tighten it up. But we dont think its going to work, so he most likely will be getting a external wastegate for better boost control.

Tightened up the actuator and car is holding 26psi alot better but its real snowy so we cant really test it fully. I talked him into going to the dyno after christmas some time so I hope I can post some numbers soon.

I would think a daily driver with a nice sized turbo would want to run LINK as a min and EMS would help out even more for control of feul etc

Im talking about very very good drive ablity and tunning

Sure people ran high 9s with just a afc, doesnt mean its a wise choice

Why dont you save your selfs the trouble and just go with a ex waste gate

JayRolla why arent you running E85 in your dsm. This talk seems to all be about your brother/mechanics cars... The day I see a E85 station out here im going to go and have some fun on the highway to burn off the remaining pump gas and fill up with E85. And depending how seldom i see a E85 gas station id buy a decent sized gas tank that can hold 5 or 6 gallons and fill that up and leave it in my garage for back up gas !

My brother is running greddy emanage, this is not about my car. Emanage is working out incredibly well. My mechanic loved it and said he is surprised more people done use it for how cheap it is. He even likes some of the features over his dsmlink, but link has the cool features like raising the rev limit and stuff like that. But for a fuel controler, timing controler and injector compensation it works just as good as link.

Also ex wastegate cost money when tightening the actuator was free. Not everyone can just go buy whatever they want.

Well I have a little girl and another little one on the way. I dont really have the money to go out and buy dsmlink, injectors, fuel pump, fuel line and all that.

I'm building the easiest and cheapest way to break 300whp. I will be adding a methanal injection kit here real soon and hope I can somewhat keep up with my brothers car.

Thats understandable, my car is done on a budget. And besides you arent too far away from a E85set up either, and dont you already have a socketed eprom, just get a basic chip tune. Also E85 doesnt mean you have to turn the boost up, you can still make more power just using it to take advantage of timing advance.
Run a lean afr that doesnt knock so you have more leanway in IDCs and then just run the max boost you can till your fuel system cant keep up, and crank the timing way up.
Even if your current fuel set up on the 16g is limited to like 12-13lbs with E85; im sure you'll still be faster if you dropped 32 degs of timing on top of that and youd be making more power but on a little less boost... Why not ya know?

No I dont have an eprom, just a safc to tune. I was thinking of throughing in a 255fp and 1000cc injectors. Then just see what I can do with the safc. There was a guy here on a gt30r turbo and made 550whp on e85 using just a safc and 1000cc injectors. There was a spot on the rpm band that he was not able to lean the car out but still made awesome power.

But we only have I would say 4 pumps in our whole town right now. Ive seen people run 26psi and 20+ timing on a 16g using meth injection so I may try that route instead of e85.

We are also thinking of pulling the timing back a little on the tune of my bro's car. We are only adding 6 points on the emanage. We would like to see 22-26* like when it was stock because with the stock cast pistons it may be a little dangerous.

Congrats, 26psi on a evo316g feels insane. I'm also running the evo3 16g at about 25psi daily on e-85 and 1000cc injectors. Car feels super fast.. I think im around 21degrees timing with about .4 knock, but only when my boost spikes. This is also on an old tired motor.

You damn Colorado people with all this E85 im jealous..... LOL
