thought maybe this would get a laugh or two: at work one day had windows down was starting to rain. old fart walks in the store and asked if i owned the white car outside. i said yes sir may i help you. he said no i was letting you know that its starting to rain and that big metal air filter at the front of your car( didnt have front bumper on so fmic was sticking out) is getting wet need to get that covered befor it soaks up water

This recently happened when I went to go get a engine from wisconsin.

Really not a conversation, just what I overheard and what happened.

I show up to get a engine.
Guy shows up in this 1g talon, revs it up for about 5 secs, I just started laughing while looking away.
Gets out and tells me, hes running 28 psi, bla bla bla. He would sell it for 5 or 6k. I already told him I didn;t want a AWD.

Anyways, he pops the hood. engine , was sitting on the frame of the car, the L drive side mount wasn't even hooked up. The crank pulley was 1mm away from the cars frame. Somehow this idiot had the mount rigged up, and it somehow broke off the whole car. Made no sense, I was trying not to laugh so hard.

After that I go inside. This chunky 16 yr old kid gets out of his like 98 escort or whatever. Starts instantly talking about how he had a methanol injected boosted dsm running like 30 psi or something dumb like that.

I just stood there like..... yehhhhhh you drive a 98 escort man. I just didn;t understand.

All in all it was just 10x worse then what I can even explain it.

OK well here is mine. My buddy has a 2005 Honda Civic Si. He recently spent 15k to make it a turbo engine. I recently ran a 14.5 1/4 and told him. He was well my car will run 13s after the car is done I sat there trying hard not to laugh at his dumb ass and told him I just have to spend 3k and I will be running 13s easily and how smog will not be a problem. He tells me he wants to make his car a sleeper with a FMIC hanging out in the front bumper. I told him to get a DSM or an EVO with that money and sell his Civic. He still insisted on making his car a turbo.

How retarded can you be wasting that much money on a Honda to make it turbo and who knows if it will pass smog

My gf is into civics, shes owned 2 or 3. All 1991-95 or so.

The one I did like was a 1.6L d16z6 one. I will admit for a sohc 1.6L that thing was pretty peppy.

But hondas arnt any more reliable then any other car. Her civics got around 28-30 mpg, and broke down as much as any other car. If not more. Headgasket, axles, balljoints, radiator, u know the usual.

They could get all the cool neon lights, light up logos, and every company makes honda civic parts.

This leads me to another hatred of mine. JEEPS. The wrangler and the cherokee are literally THE HONDA CIVIC and ACCORD of the woods. Every kid, redneck, and jag off has one, wants one, and is willing to explain all the cool jeep junk he plans on adding including a jeep tattoo on his forehead so even when not in the JEEP other idiots can identify there own.....

Get a tracker, get an xterra. Be creative there are a million vehicles with 4 wheel drive. I'd have more respect for a lifted awd dsm in the woods than I could have for the tom, dick, and harry jeep-o-civic.

OMFG rofl!!! I'm glad to see I'm not the only person that has rants like this. What about a dsm body that was put on jeep frame and sat on 33+ tires. It was on ebay several years ago and I think even on dsmtuners for a short time.

I am a previous Jeep owner BECAUSE I understand....

1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2 door. 5 speed, black on gray 68k miles. By 72,000 on street driving only.

-It was heavy, with a 5 speed was horrible for crawling up anything as it would immediately roll if you pushed in the clutch. (The tracker could be feathered and crawl anything) The Jeep rutted the hell out of my driveway where the tracker had simply floated over previously.
- Driver door hinge busted off - left me holding it on til I got to the garage
- Drive shaft snapped at rear - towed
- rear passenger shock blew mounts right off the shock - towed
- headlights had electronically failed **to defend the great jeep name I could hold the high beams on manually the whole time I was driving if need be.
- Ax15 tranny leaked like it was meant to strain noodles from day one. - qt a month
- Engine had great torque but overall a horrible vehicle. I would not recommend these things to my worst enemy.

Jeeps are popular for the same reason civics are. HUGE aftermarket following with all the chrome accents, stickers, and like u said they are cheap and people think they are reliable woods vehicles. Plus once you get in the woods if you aren't wearing all your jeep logos and driving a jeep you have to prove your non-jeep can hang. Which is a HUGE part of why I hate Jeeps (it's the owners) Just like the Eagles ( I like the team, hate the fans) You proved my point on this one. You didn't say you like Jeeps and leave it at that. You we're sure to point out why all other 4 wheel drive's CAN'T hang in the woods unless they dump so much money they could have had a "hot jeep" for less. Off-roading isn't about hot, it's about performance. Which brings light to the notion you made, which was people can't engage a vehicle in 4 wheel drive and enter the woods or mud with out solid axles. Where does this come from? I've been beating the hell out of my tracker for years with out solid axles(If you'd like to see this phenomena your welcome to join us in the Wilkes Barre area doing some wheeling).

I just don't get it.

Also You own a CHEVY tracker made by GM which isn't really comparable to the sidekick or GEO tracker made by Suzuki so yes I bet it is a POS.

94 Geo Tracker
- buried up to windows in water (hammer to the floor made it out)
- partially rolled (winched her over, started right up)
- rockers crushed flat from crawling over everything
- every body panel is dented, scratched, or caved in.
-180,000 miles (started with 86k as a farm truck for my dad where it put 3k miles on in strictly woods/off-road chasing trespassers for about 3-4 years)
- stock ride height with independent front (sweet) and aggressive tires. I can/will go anywhere you Jeep guys can.

- **never broke ANYTHING abusing the hell out of it. except once a wire came loose for the fuel pump, I replaced the pin in the plug and it's been good money ever since.

Everyone I four wheel with has a jeep, you'll see a bronco or yota here and there. Everyone laughs at the Tracker until they see it in action. Then EVERYONE tries to buy this thing. I would never sell it..In fact I'm about to do an engine swap to go from 90 HP to 130 with the 16v engine. Once I get the 6 bolt I just swapped firing on all four cylinders. haha

Aside from all that, the ultimate 4 wheel drive vehicle is a Toyota Landcruiser of the 60-70's. The FJ 40 is an incredible and unstoppable machine. This I think we can all agree on in the four wheel drive world. I wish mine wasn't so far buried in the garage that I can't even see it any more...

Great story about a drive thru. I sold Audi and Porsche at Wyoming Valley Motors for while back around 06. I used to take keys for cars go out and hop in and out til I found one that needed gas, go for a ride (the place was soo boring otherwise...) I took a brand new A8L out got gas, and decided to stop at Wendy's and grab something to eat on the way back.

I miss driving the nicest cars and getting paid for it.....I used to love going to auction pick ups. We used to get Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsches, all types of crazy cars. Dealer trades to that huge place in Jersey that is like a mile strip of high end car dealers under one name... Can't think of it off hand..I got to drive a Cayman S back from there for a customer...It was incredible, I dusted our chase mazda 3 like 20 times, a vr6 jetta, what fun there is to be had in other peoples cars haha
