I've got a 97 Talon that I replaced the stock radiator fans with Spal slim fans to clear my j-pipe. I was wondering if wiring them to the stock connector from the old fans would be sufficient enough to power them?

I've seen some people say it works fine this way and others say that their fuses keep blowing when the AC is switched on. I still have AC and would like to use it like normal and wasn't sure if I needed to do a dual fan relay setup to do so? If so does anybody have a how to or diagram for a dual fan relay setup? Or will the stock connectors from the old fan to the stock harness be sufficient?

I have searched some with not much luck finding duel relay setups. Any help is appreciated. Thank You

I would check the Spal data sheet for nominal current and compare that to the factory fuse value. As far as a "dual relay" setup. My recommendation would be to use the factory harness and wiring up to the fan and have the second relay switched by the factory wiring. It was meant for high current to the fan itself but it won't care if it's being used to run a relay coil. Wire the high current side of the second relay to the battery, with an inline fuse, and ground it to chassis near the fan itself.

It didn't come with any information regarding the amps or anything else it just came with the box and that was it.But I looked it up and one website says 25amps and another says 13amps and they have a list for all Spal fans.So I would guess 26amps total if both fans are running at the same time and the fuse in the car is a 20amp.But maybe I'm not figuring it right.I seen a youtube video of a guy wiring a relay but it was for both fans and the signal was from the drivers side fan harness which I would think both would run when the drivers is triggered. But then there's nothing triggering the other fan for the ac for when it's turned on, so I wasn't sure if I might need a relay for each fan to trigger them separately and supply sufficient power to both fans.

The factory fans are on separate circuits, and actually have 'HI' and 'LO' relays (thus the 4 wires to the fan). So if each fan is 13 amps running, you might be able to get away with the factory wiring and fusing, given it seems both fans run off of a single 30A fuse, according to the fuse box cover. Factory wiring would be ideal for install cleanliness and factory operation.

Thanks man I greatly appreciate the help.I was hoping to just cut the stock connectors of the old fans and wire them upto the new and do it that way.I understand how to wire them and such with the Hi and Lo.But I guess I'm blind some how I missed the 'Rad Fan' on the fuse box cover and seen the 'Cond Fan' 20amp and seemed to think it was for the ac radiator fan for some dumb reason.Sorry for wasting your time on that one.I really appreciate your help and correcting me on that fuse. Thanks again!

I run the spal 30102038 on pretty much every one of my dsms as theyre the only fans I've found large enough to keep the AC pressures under control in AZ summers and have a continuous use CFM rating. I'm currently running them off the stock fan wiring in most of my cars with the hi/low tied together so that if it commands either they stay on. One is about enough to run the whole car on it's own with the A/C on. Theyre rated at about 20amps continuous with a sub 30amp start up amperage.

O... I missed the Cond. Fan too LOL. You are definitely within the fuse rating at 13A per fan (assuming their inrush current isn't too wild). The HI and LO are connected to a resistor box (I think that is what it is?) on the OE fan assembly. This gives the fan a low speed and a high speed mode. I didn't care about that (and the aftermarket fans don't have any way to have a high and low speed anyway), so I wired both hots and both neutrals together and bypass that system entirely. If one relay of the two is on, your fan will spin.
