DSMTuner "friendly" inspection sites?

Does anyone in the Bel Air, Maryland area know of an inspection site that would give a modded vehicle the best chance of passing the safety inspection? Let me know where you folks are passing inspection, and tell me what more "questionable" modifications you've gotten by with.

I'm concerned about them getting overly excited by the roll bar / 4pt harness combo, FMIC, and so on.. I think the car is more safe than stock, and this would be obvious to most folks- but you never know with these types.

DO NOT post information such as a location that will provide illegal inspections on an open forum like this. It's the quickest way to get that location busted for improper inspections as well as this site for providing access to such information. Asking the question is fine, PM the responses if you know of somewhere.

Edit: A safety harness and roll cage (depending on type) is only safer if you ride around with a helmet on. Otherwise, you're bringing metal closer to your head in the event of an accident. Also, the 4/5 points don't have things like seat belt pre-tensioners (unless you bought one like on RRE) and other features that work in conjunction with the airbag system.

as far as i can find the roll cage is legel but the 4 pt harness are not legal because they dont retract

yea man maryland is a BUNCH OF MONEY HUNGERY PUNKS. i got by on inspection from a bud. but my car would not pass the vet test . they tryed to get me to buy 400$ of emissions crap.so i just beat them at there game and drove the car to my moms house in kentuky and reregistered the car. now i can have limo tit and a full 3in from turbo back wit test pipe and all them edgewood cops can't do a thing about it. no emmision or inspect in ky

Is there a DOT basis for the 4-points being a problem, or is it just the fact it isn't the stock belts that would give the inspector pause?

I actually have a roll bar, not cage, it's well behind me, and the harnesses have pretensioners on the belt that feeds to the harness. No airbags in my '90. So from the sounds of it, I have as acceptable of a harness setup as one could ask for during inspection.. or at least I hope THEY think so. Any more input for me to consider?

The roll bar is legal there is nothen in the book about it, and to be hounst i think your seatbelts may pass if then have pretensioners , I goin to ask my trooper next time he comes to the shop

If your worried about the 4pt harness just keep your stock seatbelt in the car and you will be fine. Then then vehicle is equiped with the proper safty equiptment.

I just spoke to my trooper, he said the cage is legal, as long as you can get in and out of the car kind of easly, and it has no sharpe edges. As for the harrnes, thay are illegal, the seat belts have to be just like the factory made them. and in the factory locations. But is you still have the factory seatbelts in the car, and they work ,then you are good to go, and you dont have to take the 4 pt harness out, just let them hang where they are.

This stinks. I have the seatbelt portions that come up from the floor and the shoulder straps/mechanism were deleted.

Must the horn fuction like stock too, as in the steering wheel must be the switch to power it? I've narrowed my silent horn's cause as being between the fuse box and the steering column. It's such a rat's nest of wires, I don't think i'll ever find the right one. If I can make a separate power circuit for the horn in order to pass inspection, I think I'd be ok. What do you think?

The seat belts would still fail, cause you wouldnt have rear seat belts. As for the horn, you can have a button with in arms reach of the driver and it will pass, so a separate power circuit is legal, see if you can find a 1g part out and get the seat belts,

National Budget Muffler in Bel Air is a fair place to get inspected. Think of it this way; if you had your car inspected and it passed everything, that means your car is perfect. Leave a few necessary lights out (Remove the bulbs) and they will get you for that. They pretty much "Have" to catch you for something.
