[RESOLVED] 2G GST Think I will pass Inspection? No CAT (Texas)

95 GST, sm16G, No Cat and running a little on the rich side. Should I even attempt inspecting it? If no, what should I do to make it passable quick. DOT says car has to be inspected in my county within 10 days , in order to complete transfer of title. My first thoughts are to have cat welded IN and dump some RSP additive into the tank and I should sqeak by. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I had a shop that would do that until last year. Laws changed and have to inspect in county of residence. But, now that you have opened my eyes, I have a good idea of what shops to hit that might help me out. thanks

Since you have a '95 you won't have to pass OBD-II emission testing. If your area does a tail pipe "sniffer" test you'll need a good lean tune to pass. Having a cat will definitely help you with the tail pipe test. Having a "test pipe" will give you an immediate fail if they do a visual inspection (and a possible fine?) I believe it's a fallacy that you can't have an awesome car that still has emissions systems intact. Some parts of the country still don't care much about emissions. Have you researched your local laws on the Internet?

Actually, I have researched and found a loop hole. I live on the border of two neighboring counties of which I pay taxes for both. One is emissions county and the other is not. I will simply file for the transfer title in the NON-emissions county that which I pay taxes. Thanks for the reply.
