oh didnt know that! Well that blows really took care of my problem. Other than that piece of advice I thought I had I am a novice at link.

I remember the AC switch being on when I took delivery of the car...I may have a little experiment to try with that button. :)

Ever feel like you're chasing your tail...?

Found out why the car wouldn't idle for shit...BISS screwed WAY in. Backed it out a bit and got the idle up. Now, to RE-tune...again.

I love DSMs....really.

Link is on this laptop now (shhh, don't tell IT...err..me...errrr, just my bosses).

Playing with the BISS some, hooked the laptop up long enough to run 0% correction on the 50hz slider as a test to see if it would idle, and lo and behold...it idles. I'm going to get some fuel and MAF tuning done when I get a free second. :)

Sike!

;)

Played with the car some more trying to get trims and the airflow in step. Came up with this idle log as a last minute thought this morning. Note that the sliders are back up in the 50hz range. I couldn't get rid of my idle surge with the slider on 0% and the BISS out another 1/2 turn.

The log looks decent. I would lower the 50hz slider to +19 because your ltft lo and stft are both negative. It will take the ecu some time to change the ltft lo so come back in a day or two and check those values at idle again.

LTFT lo + STFT = Your 50Hz adjustment

10-4

I'm looking forward to romping the throttle again. :p

You can move on to rev (150hz) and cruise (250-400hz) tuning now. Just follow this guide. Once you get those airflow sliders dialed in then the fun begins :rocks:

P.S. - It's soon time to wire up the wideband and think about getting a map sensor (will help a ton with maf calibration).

Yeah, I just haven't wedged my mammoth frame back under the dash to do the WB...I know I need to.

I'll hit Jeff's page soon!

Cruise and idle logs. I've played with the A/F sliders a bit.

Odd idle issues though...think the BISS o-ring may be to blame.

Sorry for the size of the cruise log. Bit of traffic around and I didn't want to look away from the road too much. Must be the old man in me.

I would bring the 50hz slider down a couple% since the ltft lo is maxed negative in the idle log. Other than that everything else looks good to me.

If you don't have AC on the car and want the fans to run pushing the AC switch in to either the economy or full position will kick both fans on. That is as long as the interior fan is on as well. If you turn the interior fan switch off then the AC button doesn't do anything.

I used this trick at the track a lot back in the day. You can turn the car off, turn it back to on but not start it and hit the AC button. This will kick both fans on and help cool down the engine bay between runs. Just be careful as those fans pull some current so you can get stuck with a dead battery and need a jump...not that I know about that :shhh: :coy:

Kris, my car should be running soon. If you want I can make it out your way to help with the tuning once mine is running.

Damn bro, that is a bit of a haul, but I'd appreciate any help; here or in person.

Worth doing a pull or two on a lowish boost setting now?:D

I don't have anything else to do since I am on disability from breaking my knee. And, I am used to driving from here to NY, so it's not too long to me.

I would say go ahead. Just make sure the check engine light is set to come on for knock.

It is. 3 counts over 3k and 30%, or near that.

Forgot to mention, went to the 2g timing map due to the pistons that are in here. Thought I'd add that. ;)

Quick question for the Link gurus...I've not yet started WOT tuning, but I have gone WOT through a good bit of the RPM band. (keep blowing out my BISS, so I've not gotten really "into" tuning WOT).

Here's the deal...I had all of the timing sliders zero'd out as I was rev-cruise tuning, but I'd get knock around 3500 with the pedal down. I backed down to the 2g map (from the Wik) and can romp it with no knock (indicated on dash), but the performance is piss poor.

Now, and stop me if this is too "Initial AFC Settings-ish", can y'all recommend a "base" config of the timing/fuel/airflow sliders based on mods?

If not, no problem, just was thinking about this in traffic on the way to work.

2500 3000 3500 4000 4500 5000 5500 6000 6500 7000
+2 -1 +0 -1 +0 +0 -3 -4 +0 +2

I'm guessing you are running more than 10psi. If so, I would try out these settings. These are to smooth out the curve and lower peak timing some. The ecu will be targeting 21* peak timing when running over 10psi at 6000rpm, which is too much. And the timing curve has big jumps.

Sorry for the delay...work is nuts. I'm at about 20lbs, but I'll verify if I can get the snail to spool in a reasonable time. ;)

Thanks, BTW. I hate asking questions like that. :) Feels too much like bench racing, somehow.

This is the sock 1g ecu timing curve. As you can see it has a few big jumps from one point to another. And it also has high peak timing. Knock can occur from the big jumps and also from the high peak timing.

Hey-zoos. No wonder the lil 14b with a BCS tweak really perked the car(s) up years ago.
