How do I get my runs out of dsmlink. I tried 'Export' but nothing happened. I can't even reopen runs that I save in dsmlink. It says something like invalid something or rather...

????

Might be a newbie question, but I'm a newbie at dsmlink

Yeah, I can find them, just I cant reopen them. It comes up with an error.

Guess I'll have to contact them about that, I got a used dsmlink.

I'[ve gotten more help here. Odd.

The dsmlink guys tend to not answer the "help me please" posts like we do here. Strange because I have to scream my head off to get some attention around there

OP: Chances are when the original owner of dsmlink used the computer, they designed the 'save to' file to something specific on their laptop. If that same file name/directory is not specified on your computer, you will not be able to save files. Go and find out where dsmlink wants to save your files and change it to something on your desktop.

Indeed. I think my most frequent responder on that board is Pat (1992awdlaser), and it is the same here.

A bit less "noise" there, but with the restricted membership and such, the chaff is easily separated.

^ And there are two ways to fix that (if you are using the same laptop as the previous owner). If this is the case, let me know and I'll post up the fixes. If you're using your own laptop, then it'll be something else.

And you're sure you're trying to open a run file (.dat extension) and not an ECU Settings file (.ECU)? What error are you getting? Possibly an I/O Error?

Export is used if you want to put the data into Excel or some other spreadsheet software. Dsmlink will autosave your logs in the "runs" folder as .dat files which can be opened and viewed at a later time. If you don't have one of those programs for when you export the file, it won't open and will show an error.

Alright, I got it figured out. Thanks for the help. It was a stupid mistake on my part, I exported them and don't have anything to open them on my laptop after I exported them. So dsmlink wasn't able to open them after they were exported so I got confused. But thanks guys for the replies.
