Ok, so what does it do? Is it necessary.

I hooked it up right, checked and re-checked and the car studders like a banshee. Put it back to normal and no more studdering.

If I don't need this thing I'm not going to worry about it.

The DSMlink clutch cut mod isn't necessary. It is only used for no-lift shifting and to activate anti-lag between shifts. You can still use the stutterbox and antilag for launching, as it is triggered by your car's speed. The no-lift feature is especially useful on large turbos, as it keeps the turbo spooled between shifts. It also allows you to shift faster and smoother if set up correctly. Assuming you wired it up correctly, if you do NOT want to use the no lift feature, then set the "shift RPM" in the RPM section to the same RPM as your rev limiter, do NOT just uncheck the box that says "enable clutch cut feature". Leave that box checked regardless if you use it or not.
