hi sorry i posted here but i just needed to know, when you push the clutch in and are in first gear, do you floor the gas? does it hit redline first and then go to the adjusted stutterbox feature, in this case lets say you floored it, does it hit 7000 rpms and then go down to the selected launch rpm? and i have wired it up right. please get back to me soon, and sorry again to post this in the bolt on section, but it is the place where most of the questions get answered, well for me anyway.
thanks

Depending on which version of the stutterbox you got a couple of this could happen.

Car stopped:
3 step (NTLS) with correct clutch wire mod done and working it will stutter with the clutch in or hit rev limiter with it out.
2 step will stutter.

Car moving:
3 step (NLTS) with correct clutch wire mod done and working it will hit NTLS limiter.
2 step hit rev limitor

If you have a 3 step and the CSS is broken you would just hit the rev limiter.

I can't think of a case where you would first hit the rev limiter and then drop to stutter rpms.

yes,uh-uh.

anybody else that might know why it is not working?
thanks

basically i tried using the stutterbox that they have programmed in to the chip that i bought from dsmchips.com and it has been wired right becuase i followed the instructions that they provided. so when i rev my car to 4,500 rpms it does not seem to stutter and i am fearful of just full throttling it becuase you could easily over rev the engine, do you have to floor it to make it kick in? it is the stage 3 chip on that website.
thanks for your willingness to help

Do the rpms stop at 4500 regardless of how far down you push the gas pedal? The car won't really "stutter" until you damn near floor it. If the rpms do not go higher than 4500 with the clutch pushed in, then your stutterbox is working.

then i dont know what is wrong with mine, it does not stutter and it has been to 7000 rpms so it did not stop and stutter at 4,500. the part where i step on the gas pedal to choose what stutter rpm to launch at works fine it goes from one to the other like it was going to work, but it doesnt. any clue on how i can get it to work?
thanks for the replies

Steve IS the guy from dsmchips and would be the one I would listen to when it comes to re-chip questions or problems with your ecu bro, he would know everything about the chip itself. No offense to anyone else. :dsm:

Thanks, but I don't work for DSMchips :) That Jeff and Nate.

As Mark knows, the DSMchips support forum is the best place to ask about this.

I do have a pretty good idea how this stuff works.

The fact that you ordered a Stage 3 chip doesn't tell us if you have a 2-step or 3-step stutterbox. Doing the CSS (clutch safety switch) wire mod is required for the 3-step but does nothing for the 2-step. It's needed to support the NLTS (No lift to shift) feature that is the difference between the two stutterbox options.

Jeff doesn't use the CSS during the selection process before starting your car so the fact that it's working just tells us that your IPS (idle position switch) works. If the ECU sees the Park/Neutral pin grounded it won't stutter or NLTS. If yours works intermittently then I would suspect the CSS mod is faulty or your CSS is bad.

For grins, unplug pin 104 from the ECU harness. Then the ECU will always think the clutch is in and you'll hit either the stutter limit or the NTLS limit based on what it sees from the VSS (vehicle speed sensor)

Steve

well, when you buy the stage 3 chip it says you can choose your launch rpm, i chose the awd. then it says you can choose the shift no lift feature, so i choose that at 6000, im never gonna use it becuase i do not have a built tranny, but i said maybe later on in the future. so what do you recommend i do? and i could have sworn that i read on the dsmchips forum that you had to wire up the stutterbox, but it also says that you dont.
thanks for your help guys

If you have a chip with NLTS then you have the 3-step and are required to do the CSS wire mod. The 2-step doesn't use it. If you wire the mod wrong then your stutter and NLTS don't work. If you keep the normal CSS function and use the 3-step you must use the wire Jeff includes or make your own with the blocking diode.

What happens when you remove pin 104 from the ECU connector?

Steve

OOPS, your right steve that IS jeff, I dont know why I was thinking of your name for some reason instead :( . But anyway, you seem to know plenty enough to take good care of the problem, so I still stand behind my original suggestion. :D :dsm:
