DSM LINK or ECU+

hey guys i need some opinions or facts about what tuning tool is better... *dsmlink or ecu+* everyones opinions and experiences are welcome.. thanks everyone

Has anyone used both? I think that would be the type of feedback this guy is looking for. Plenty of people have used one or the other, but that's only going to tell you one side of the story. We need some people who have used both.

I'd say that this is doubtful unless there are people who tune for other people's cars quite a bit. Those that replied didn't mention anything about ECU+, so I doubt anybody knows the both of them.

Well, on a side note, I decided to go with the DSMLink, a lot of reason because of the claimed support for their forums, while the ECU+, even though is still trafficked, isn't enough.

I have used both the DSM Link and the Ecu plus both are good units. Both have good tech support I only tuned the DSM Link in a friends car but it worked out smooth. I like the tuning windows of the Ecu plus alot and it also has good tech support on their forum in one case the developer even made me a custom program. I think it depends mostly on your setup if you are 6-bolt in a 2g I would run the DSM Link if you are running the 7 bolt than the Ecu plus is equally good. Good Luck with your decision. The AEM is worth every penny, that is what I have in my car now.

To me it seems that alot of people are going from DSMLINK to AEM EMS. Why? AEM EMS is better? Easier to tune? I've read a bit about it and seems a lil difficult, especially that you have to put in AEM sensors to get readings and what not. Can anyone verify that?

P.S. I've seen a couple of shops that tune w/AEM EMS, so that is one of the plus pts. but one of the biggest downsides is that its EXPENSIVE, and probably difficult to tune.

I don not have AEM EMS...

I am a firm believer in DSMLink. I will never, ever go to AEM EMS with my car. I am NOT ragging AEM EMS. I believe my goals do not neccesitate such a system.

That being said... AEM EMS seams limitless! In otherwords, if you want to go to John Shephard status, I believe you should definately purchase. You will have absolute control over your engine bay.

Therefore, I think you should research the particular aspects offered by each system and determine which aspects you need most and which you do not need to reach your goal.

I'm a newbie, so if u have this dsmlink u can vent your b.o.v to the atmosphere safely.

No. DSMLink will NOT allow you to atmosphere-vent your BOV. The air is still already counted by the stock MAS. The only way to atmospheric-vent your BOV without running pig-rich after a blow-off event is with an aftermarket air metering system, usually a MAF-T with a GM MAS in blowthrough mode, or a mass air pressure system. An upcoming version of DSMLink *may* allow the use of a GM MAS without a MAF-T, but the current version does not have that functionality.
