Ok we are swapping in a turbo 6bolt engine into my buddys non turbo car.
He has a nice transmission and a new clutch in it. He forgets if its a 6 bolt or 7 though as its a 92 car.

Now. for flywheels, say his car is a 7 bolt right now.
the awd flywheel that came with the engine is different step right?
if we need to look for a 6bolt flywheel is there a difference between a fwd turbo and a fwd nonturbo??

another solution?
now we also have the awd transmission that came with the car. could we use that transmission with the awd flywheel, and cap off the awd part and use it as a fwd tranny?

Thanks in advance

Mike

The flywheels are not the same between n/t and turbo. They are actually quite different, and to use teh n/t flywheel you'd need an n/t tranny, then you'd have clutch slippage problems...

And AWD and FWD aren't the same either. I would get a FWD turbo tranny. You could probably trade someone on here. The AWD tranny would work temporarily, but very poor idea overall.

EDIT: FWIW, it is drivetrain not drive terrain ROFL

hahah thanks for the spelling correction.

Ok we have a nt tranny in his car, and hopefully a 6bolt non turbo flywheel in it aswell. but would I have clutch slippage problems at stock boost levels?? and why?

Well, most likely you'd have clutch slippage problems.

Here is a layout for ya...

1. Fwd Turbo transmission - nothing obviously as this is the transmission it should have.

2. Awd Turbo transmission - For this tranny you'll need a new shim to locate the starter bolt holes correctly, a new passenger side transmission mount, you'll have to use the awd turbo flywheel, and obviously alter the internals so that it no longer has the output shaft for the transfer case.

3. 2.0 NT trans - For this install you'll need the 2.0 nt shim to locate the starter holes, you'll need the nt transmission mount, the 2.0 nt flywheel and clutch assembly, and depending on what year turbo transmission you have you may need to switch to the smaller axles that the nt's used.
