Hello,
Today I decided to take a look to try and find out why my factory alarm/power door locks/horn hasn't been working. I checked through all the fuses and non were blown. Then
after doing some research and taking a look at the dealer circuit diagrams I traced the problem to what is referenced as the "Door lock control unit or Theft-alarm control unit". That control unit box is located by the passenger side kick panel. I immediately smelled some burnt electrical when I got part of the black box case open and from the look of the board it looks to be fried/shot which I believe is due to me possibly shorting it out when I was wiring something else up directly to the fuse box.
Anyway, my main question is does anyone know if this door lock/theft-alarm control unit is universal amongst 1g's(Mine is a 90 GSX M/T) or if it is special order only from mitsu? I would love to get this all working again as soon as possible and I'd rather not get it from the dealer unless I have to. The mitsu part number I have on the box is MB542448. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Alright I called a couple dealers both Mitsubishi and Chrysler they all stated that the part is obsolete and not able to be ordered. Anyone know someone with this MB542448 Door lock control unit/theft-alarm control unit for a 1990 eclipse gsx? From what the dealers said this particular unit was only used in 1990-1991 models and is not universal with any of the other years' control units. I'm lookin for a needle in a hay stack it seems like as it probably won't be easy for me to find that specific year gsx with power locks/factory alarm at my local junk yards.

I am actually going to figure out how to just bypass the damn thing altogether. That piece of junk will disable the car at least once every couple weeks, requiring me to pull the battery cable off to make it quit. It's pretty useless anyhow... Only a dumbass car thief thief would risk stealing the whole car. It isn't worth it. They'd pop the door, then the hood, pull the battery cable off to shut the car up, and steal all the aftermaket crap we install on these cars as quick as possible and haul ass. If I didn't give a crap about damaging the other parts near it, I'd bet I could remove a turbo in under 5 minutes, easy... Regulators, injectors, performance radiators, maybe the intercooler... You could rip them out pretty damn quick if you just hack and chop everything in the way off... That haul alone would probably be worth more than the car as a whole. That is also a lot harder to protect yourself from... A locking hood latch would probably be more effective than the alarm is.
