Hello all, I do not own a DSM, but i am working on one for a friend. It is a 1999 Eclipse Spyder,2.4L non turbo. I usually work on GM,Ford or chrysler so this one is new to me, and the dealer has been no help. My problem is the fuel pressure drops to 10 lbs when the computer goes in to closed loop, when it is in open loop, cold start or if I disconnect the mass air sensor it jumps to 40 lbs. I have no codes except when I disconnect the air sensor. The dealer wants to replace the fuel pump and the relay, and the filter, I dont see how any of these could be the cause because if I keep the computer from going in to closed loop the pressure stays at 40lbs and I can drive it all day. The only thing I can find that is strange is a small meta box on the drivers side kick panel by the ecm that gets too hot to touch. No one can tell me what this is, it looks like a relay and if I disconnect the wiring the pump does not run, it looks more like a module than a relay. Is this a relay or some kind of a fuel control unit and should it get so hot? could it be my problem. thank you for any information you can provide. rcb
