Hello,

I am in the process of rebuilding my 91 Talon AWD (6 bolt). I am gonna have the block bored out .020" due to the PTW clearance being out of limits on 3 out of the 4 cylinders. I have been able to put together most of my kit, but I am coming across a dilemma. After doing some research I have found that people like NPR pistons for stock/slight modification set ups on their DSMs. I was able to find a set of 6 bolt NPR pistons with rings for almost 200.00. The price seems kinda high for stock pistons. After doing some more research I have also found that Rockauto sells DNJ pistons for 80.00 a set. I could then add a set of NPR rings (35.00) and have a complete set for 115.00. My questions are the following: Does anybody have any first hand experience with DNJ pistons or know anybody that has used them? Can I combine the DNJ pistons with NPR rings? The markings on top of the DNJ pistons look very similar to the markings ontop of the NPR pistons. Are they made by the same company, just distributed under a different brand name?

Here is the link for the pistons:

My goals for this car are for it to be a good reliable DD for now + some light mods. Nothing more than 300hp. Plenty for me :D

Thanks

Oscar

From the link and the pic they look like Reboxed NPR pistons.

So chances are good they could be.

I have not Used DNJ pistons, so I can not confirm or deny that they are reboxed NPR

Awesome! Thanks guys. I'll give that company a call and see ii can get a deal. One last question: I'm planning on using the oem organic head gasket. I'm boring .020" over. Do they offer this gasket in over size or does one size fit all?

Thanks!

The OE or FelPro composite will be just fine to use up to a .040/1mm over bore

Awesome, thank you to you both for all your help. Just in case anybody is interested and sees this post, rock auto currently has the Fel-Pro 9627PT head gasket for sale (12.00).

Thanks

I've used the dnj Pistons in a ton of n/a rebuilds and not one single issue, everyone still on the streets. Not sure about them in a boosted car, but if they are reboxed npr's you should be just fine.
