Has Anyone who is running as palm IIIx running palmnstein had any problems running it
I bought a datalogger package off a seller on ebay and it crashes with a message "fatal exception" each time I load it. And the seller is taking his sweet time fixing the problem. If he keeps it up I'll send it all back to him. :shhh: and issue a chargeback on my credit card :sneaky:

I have a Palm IIIc I am using now with MMCd. I first started out with Palmnstien but soon found out that I needed to upgrade my Palm OS to 3.5 or higher. I can help you out if you're interested. I have setup an FTP site on my computer where I have placed files useful to DSMtuners members. Some of the files are DSMCAPS for Mitsubishi, the latest update of MMCD, and Palm OS 4.0 upgrade.

In order to get the files you must follow these steps:

1. copy and paste this link into a blank browser page. ftp://69.141.158.35/DSMtunersFTP/

2. open the DSMtuners folder.

3. Download the SFTPMSI.exe FILE to your computer and install it. It is a program called Smart FTP and it will allow you to download the larger files from my FTP even if they time out or if the connection gets broken.

4. Download any of the files I have in the DSMtuners folder for your use. You can thank me by leaving me positive rep points. :thumb:

5. I'll leave my computer logged on till late Fri night Nov 18th, then again on Monday Nov 21st till Tues morning.

I don't reccomend using Palm n stein. I personally have the opinion that it is a POS, and MMCD is much easier to use. I have both installed on my palm just in case, but after using both I think you should stick with MMCD.

When you get the fatal exception, is it only when running the program, or does it completely lock up the palm, forcing a reset? I remember a couple times when I used palmnstein, that it would give me that error, and I couldnt get the palm to work without a reset.

Unless you have OS 3.5 installed you cant log with MMCD..I dont know about tunerstien.
If i remember correctly The only Palm III series that will accept OS 3.5 are the IIIC and IIIxe..
If you have OS 3.3 you cannot upgrade to 3.5 either..I found this out the hard way.

i have the same problem. i got the datalogging kit off ebay and it came with odbguage preinstalled. when i tried to connect it with my car. All it does is say "initializing". so i wanted to try a new program out and tried to install palmnstein but i get the "fatal exception" and have to reset. any ideas to this problem?

You'll need the T-16-003 interface . I have to send mine back to him and tell him I needed a diffrent interface. If its the seller I had he may have given you a ELM interface.

Palm'n'Stein is the most un-userfriendly logger i've ever used.. in my opinion it sucks. On each screen the function of the palm buttons change, making it ridiculous to learn... MMCD on the other hand is great... you'll learn it quickly and it logs well.

I used to get the fatal exeption error also, but with MMCD. I unplugged my palm while MMCD was logging, and ever since then it would crash on startup and re-boot my palm. I just re-installed it and it works fine.

Yeah he had given me an ELM interface one. buts its weird cuz for obdguage, it connects to my car when it wants too. I'd Probably have to turn the car on and off on and off, quit a number of times for it to work. I would probably sit in the car for about 10 mins just tryin to work it. I hooked up the datalogger to my moms 03 lancer and it works the first time. could it be my obd port?
