Ok i just got the 4g63 head that i am going to start my build up on and now i have the stupidest question in the world. wich valve spring compressor have people used to get the springs off or what other ways have people used. i know this is horrible to be asking but some of the people that i work with dont even know the answer to this question

Set the head flat on a table, put a shop rag over the valve that you want to remove, put a long socket that is the same size as the diameter of the valve spring over the top of the rag/valve keeper and strike it with a nice steel hammer. You might have to strike it a few times but the valve cotters will release with this method, just keep track of the cotters when they come out. :dsm:

Well your not actually ever touching the valves defiant, your just making sure they dont slide with the springs if the springs should happen to have enough friction to move them, i have used this method for years on valves that have way way smaller stem diameters, i'm talking about 4mm stems and less, and i've never lost a patient yet!!! :D :dsm:

To reinstall them you will have to: (a) buy a valve spring compressor for multivalve heads, (b) make your own valve spring compressor for multivalve heads, (c) take it to your machine shop and pay to have them reinstalled. :barf:

i think that i am just going to bring the cylinder head and all of the extra parts to a machine shop and have the put it all together for me

no i am working on getting performance parts for it but i am trying to find a good shop around me, but i am not having any luck finding someone that i can trust with this build
