CX Racing FPR

is the Cx Racing adjustable fuel pressure regulator the same as aeromotive with just a lower quality diaphram??
I need any input on this product. if so can i just replace the diaphram with an aeromotive one and be as reliable as aeromotive?

Ive got over 2k miles on my CX afpr. No problems at all. I WILL say, make sure you have the gauge port nice and snug or it def will leak. Other than that all AN fittings and the afpr itslelf are top notch.

To your question: Im not sure about the diaphram. I would think, kind of like BOV's, the cheaper ones have a lower quality diaphram but thats simply guessing.

Come on guys are you really going to cheap out on a fuel system component. Would you buy/use a bullet proof vest if you had any doubt or inclination that it was poorly made with low quality material.

If you have to ask about the quality of a product maybe you shouldnt buy it. Why not just be save and buy Aermotive.

I 10000% agree with this post. Don't buy some cheap Chinese crap that could potentially cost you an engine. Those 4 year olds on the assembly line have shitty quality control, or so I've heard.

If you lost the 1-to-1 rising rate at 7000 rpms and 25+psi boost due to a small hole or rip suddenly appearing in the diaphragm, it would certainly be possible.

Go pull the vac hose off your AFPR and make a few WOT pulls, and let us know what happens.

I had a cheapo AFPR for a short time. It didn't hold pressure so it started like crap. I'm sticking with the stock FPR forever most likely -- they've never given me any problems.

Craig, like anyone, of course if had a line blow at 25psi. I set my knock cel at 2* and it comes on.... so i pull my foot off the pedal. The log indicates it didnt get above 4* iirc when the line popped off the afpr. I know what the risks are of a blown diaphram, i had to be a bit sarcastic though. I mean, popping the diaphram is essentially the same as the vac/boost source to the afpr and that DOES happen, not just to cheap ebay afprs .
I think tbh, if i were to do it again, i MIGHT have spent the extra 100 but seriously, if this thing does its incredibly simple job and the braided lines and an fittings are the same..... I just dont know where the money is going besides a pretty name on it. Ive provided my experience with cx afpr, now read into it what you will but its holding up well at 30psi now and around 2k miles. I will report any failures i have with it and admit when im wrong. IF im wrong

Edit: Just took it for a drive after sitting 5 days. Showed 25psi on the gauge before i started. Not sure if thats good or bad but it started fairly quick as usual. i would imagine like the above post said, if it dropped to far, too fast, i would go with a name brand for sure.

Does it use the same housing as the common Aeromotive AFPRs? If so, it wouldn't hurt to spend the small amount of money on a replacement diaphragm, just for a little reassurance.

OK, time to eat my words! I have noticed over the last month maybe that even after 1 night my gauge on my cx racing afpr is reading zero. Leading to about 10 seconds of cranking to start it. I was WRONG but to my credit, i admit when im wrong. The afpr still is good up to 30psi and i dont lean out or anything but i THINK the reason its dropping so fast is its junk. Im going to pick up an aeromotive or fuelab or equivilent afpr very soon.

So there it is. Any suggestions as to anything else it could possibly be? Only thing is i have a wal 450lph in now but it was dropping before that worse every day.

Friend of mine put one of these in his 1g. Drove around a bit, seemed fine, went out and did a pull and it leaked and the car caught fire. HE is lucky that he had a fire extinguisher with him and minimized the damage, had to replace his wiring harness and some paint.

He learned the hard way not to cheap out on fuel.

Yea thats the thing, they do leak a little and ANY dsm thats been modded needs an onboard extinguisher. I havent cheaped out on much, hell the price was right up there with the other brands. Oh well, not the first time ive learned the hard way. But i thought id post this so other members can google it and find out whats up.

Stock fpr be fine running it for years on mutiple cars unless u worried about that 1mpg u loose at idle at a stop light . Now don't let anyone start talking that ish ish agian about it but if you ganna buy one buy a good one. Buy it once and not worry about it agian. Why waste more money if they cheapy thing fails.

Sounds like an install error to me. CXracing has quality parts these days and from all their stuff I've seen lately they are a long way from "ebay junk" that everyone thinks they are. And I can say that I have this part and it's a nice piece. I don't know about wether or not the diaphram's are the same or interchangeable but I can say that alot of common parts that are "name brand" and "generic" are made in the same places/factory's. They have test/company cars and they use these on all of them just fine. So if you want to get it and try it I would reccomend it. If you want to feel better and not think about what everyone else says then wait till you can get a FuelLab.

I dont believe i installed anything wrong. Simply cause it worked fine for a couple thousand miles then slowly got worse day by day. Could be something else, youre right but i just dont think so.
I could just replace the diaphram but im not sure if that would stop the pressure dropping to zero every night. Would it? I would think if the diaphragm was a problem i would lean out up top in high boost, as thats IS what happens to a torn diaphragm.

sorry you were speaking to clipto. Yes if it leaked bad enough to cause a fire, it was def install error. He didnt terminate the AN fittings on the braided lines correctly.

I hope your joking. Its cause of companies like this a lot of quality parts are being discontinued and parts are being made overseas. I trY to buy made in USA whenever possible and most of us should do the same.

End of story: These are not worth the $50 savings. Grab a namebrand and call it a day. They may work for awhile but they are inferior. simple as that

I have an ebay afpr. Have been running it for around 3 years so far. For the past year its been set at 90psi for the base pressure. Have never had a single issue with it. Guess i got lucky and got a good unit.

Running a knockoff aeromotive unit myself. No problems or leakage here. I have since changed the lines to the pushlok style but the regulator itself has never been opened. I have not adjusted it since i got it almost 2yrs ago and the gauge still reads the same as the day I installed it. Yes i do periodically check to make sure everything is good and would like to install a fuel pressure gauge in the cab to be on the safe side.
